Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Got in touch with step change when I was at rock bot...

Got in touch with step change when I was at rock bottom, they sorted all my debts out and arranged an agreement with my creditors which I could afford, nearly coming to the end of the agreement and it has been totally stress free. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

So glad I found them

I had recently separated from my husband and was left with a large amount of debt, I felt like I was drowning. Then I found Step change and they advised and helped me create an affordable plan to pay off my debts, they deal with all communications with my creditors and it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, I would recommend them to anyone with debt issues. I found been in debt a very depressing and confusing...

I found been in debt a very depressing and confusing experience, you look at different options to help but most companies are just wanting you to take out loans to ",clear your debts" with just one payment but reading the small print you are paying astronomical amounts of interest, In reality not a good option, this is where stepchange is different and unique, they offer a realistic solution and you aren't getting in more debt, from the first email or phone call they are helping you, advising the best options and solutions for your personal circumstances, a brilliant service, friendly, reassuring and extremely knowledgeable, don't delay speak with stepchange now and rest easy you are in safe hands Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Step Change helped us out of a very tight situation..

We came to Step Change in 2018 due to my husband being in hospital for 8 weeks and he is still not as he was but thank goodness for SC as we had to close our business and left with a pile of debt and did not know what to do. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
