Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

The only issue I had was the wait to get through to...

The only issue I had was the wait to get through to someone. But as soon as I did, the advisor was so helpful, non-judgemental and really out me at ease. He also helped me so much with my query - with a better result than I had hoped for. A massive weight lifted off my shoulders

I don’t know what I would have done without the help of StepChange. I feel like a massive weight has been lifted and I can start living again. Although there was an initial glitch where my application slipped through the net, it was very quickly rectified. Staff are helpful and non judgemental. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026

Light in the tunnel

At the time of contacting StepChange I was very distraught but also the questionnaire was quite challenging to fill in. However once I got in contact with the advisor who was very patience and understanding everything start falling into place. Amazing - Great Service
