Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Following the diagnosis of a serious illness, I experienced a loss of income and wanted to take proactive action to sort out my debts as I knew I would not be able to sustain the payments. Stepchange dealt with me compassionately and helped to get my affairs in order prior to my treatment beginning. They offered reassurance and helped me feel in control of the situation. StepChange is an amazing service ! My husband had lost his job and we thought we were going to lose our home. Step change helped us get our finances back on track and helped us to keep our home !
