Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Such a relief

We were in over our heads due to my having to give up work through illness. Stepchange were brilliant. They listened and never once judged us. We have nearly finished paying it all, but are really grateful to the lovely people we have dealt with there. Would recommend them to anyone else who is finding their financial burdens weighing them down. After one phone call the weight was taken straight off of my shoulders. Reviewed on: 7th June 2025

Amazing charity

StepChange has given me peace of mind by consolidating my debts into one simple payment. They set up a direct debit for me without any fees, unlike many other companies that take advantage of people trying to become debt-free.
