So easy wish I'd done it sooner..

I called Stepchange to start with to talk through my options and the lqdy was so kind and understanding. The online portal was easy to set up and helps me manage my account, I've increased my payments twice due to payrises and its easy to jump on there to calculate a new payment. No axe to grind honest straightforward debt advice

easy to deal with, they do not judge, most things can be done online but if you need to speak to someone there is the phone, they could do with being open on the weekend currently it's Monday - Friday 8am to 6pm which can be a bit restrictive especially if you are working full time, and are not computer savvy, - but as I have already said most things can be done online 24 hrs. a day, I tend to communicate via email so I know what I have said, and I know what has been said to me so it saves any possible confusion, although it can be a bit long winded, instant messaging it is not! Be honest and open with Step change and they will be the same in return, their advice can be relied upon, they have no axe to grind, I am happy to recommend them Reviewed on: 3rd May 2024

Non-judgemental help when you might need it the most

StepChange offers a very supportive and valuable service for those looking to manage their debt. The benefits of having a structured plan and supportive staff help alleviate the stress associated with debt. For anyone struggling with debt, you have to make the first step and then StepChange will handle the rest -- they negotiate with your creditors and do a fantastic job of making sure all you have to do is make one payment which is shared amongst your creditors -- if this is too much, or too little, you can easily make changes and it all updates quickly. Covid ruined us and my maternity leave

During covid I was on maternity leave and my self employed partner had no income. Secretly surviving in credit got us through but this came at a price, once the 0% inteest periods ended i was struggling to make minimum payments and my mental health took a massive hit of trying to deal with this myself. I defaluted. My partner found out about the debt and we nearly separated. Without the non judgemental help from stepchange I wouldnt be where I am today. I got into diffi ulty during my first DMP, I called the helpline and again someone helped me with my issues and got me back on track. Yes I have a long way to go till I'm debt free, but its a weight completely off my mind. Im finally sleeping at night not worrying about what emails, calls, post, texts and legal action threats I'm going to receive. Thank you for helping me to live again. Reviewed on: 3rd May 2024
