Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

Debt advice

From being left with thousands of pounds worth of debt from my marriage break up, I reached an all time low, worried about paying my mortgage and looking after 2 children, I was put in contact with Stepchange and it was then I felt some relief, they took so much of the pressure off me and spoke through my options, the people were so knowledgeable and friendly and I never once felt like I was to blame. Stepchange gave me hope and saved my life

Stepchange changed my life. It saved my life. It gave me a lifeline and hope at a time when I felt I had no options and could not envisage life without being plagued by debt. I cannot thank Stepchange enough for how they have supported me and allowed me to dream of a life I never thought I could make possible. I am a few months away from the end of my DMP and when I am free of debt and able to have disposable income again, I want to donate money to Stepchange so that they are able to give other people the hope that they gave me.
