Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

StepChange has taken the absolute stress of facing debtors and worrying about 'how am I going to pay my bills this month', away from me so that I could concentrate on daily life. Stepchange changed my life

I went to stepchange in 2020 when covid affected my income and I was struggling with my debt. They contacted all my creditors for me, which I had stopped doing, dodging calls and ignoring letters, as the anxiety that was linked to this was debilitating.their website is very easy to use, and within 24 hours I had a payment plan set up. I've just paid my last payment and I'm officially debt free, something that felt impossible 4 years ago. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2024

Anxiety is gone

I have use some other company to manage my debts in past - always something wrong. Then i changed to StepChange and from beginning it was good experience. Staff is very knowledgeable, understanding and non- judgemental. My plan is now more then three years in place and i can sleep without anxiety.
