Professional and compassionate

Stepchange have always treated me professionally but with human compassion. Being in debt can make you feel a failure but there has never been any judgement from anyone I have spoken with at Stepchange. They have been a huge help to me when I have been at my lowest. Reviewed on: 30th May 2024

i was scammed, frauded.

i owe money to a loan company but i did not borrow it the scammers did it and the police said it was fraud and the bank said it was fraud but the loan company said it was not fraud, i have police fraud phone number and same with my bank but i have to pay a very large sum of money back myself and step change helped me with a debt management plan. At a time when I was very, very low, StepChange were able to help me in a practical way in dealing with my debts. By producing a doable repayment programme from my personal income & expenditure, StepChange cleared a path for me to see, and believe, that a future for me did indeed exist. After being made redundant, I was desperate for help to sort out debt. I contacted Step Change for support, and they have! I can sleep at night, I'm not dodging the calls or worried about what the postman will bring that day. I am paying off my debts, I have given authority to my partner to help me. All my debts are paid in one payment and Step Change do the rest for free! 100% of the funds I pay go towards paying off my debts. The staff I have spoken to are so professional and yet friendly. At NO time have I felt judged, not once. When I was made redundant during covid, I felt desperate, not knowing where to turn, now I'm settled back in a new job, and the stress of repaying my debts is lifted. The help I received from StepChange has been honestly life changing. I was in real difficulty with my finances, the situation was getting worse and it was causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. But contacting StepChange helped me get things under control and eased my worries straight away. They are kind, knowledgeable, professional and totally non judgmental. I contacted stepchange when I was struggling to pay...

I contacted stepchange when I was struggling to pay debts due to rising costs of today. The online forms were very straightforward and easy enough to complete, it was nice to know someone was there to help if needed with the forms. Once I completed everything asked, I just had to wait. It was around 10 days that I was contacted to say all was set up and when my first payment would be taken. In those 10 days stepchange emailed me and kept me up to date on what they had sent to my creditors. It was so easy from start to having my DMP set up, will definitely recommend to anyone struggling, wish I'd found out about it sooner as I wouldn't have had to struggle for so long.
