Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Outstanding Free Service.

Professional to the extreme

I was in a very dark place

I was in a very dark place and could no longer face the days and nights of worry, the embarrassment of getting in to debt and then not knowing how to sort it all. I couldn't eat or sleep and my health conditions deteriorated. I was not eating more than toasted bread as I couldn't afford to eat or buy food. I had nobody to turn to or help. Stepchange changed that, gave me support, tackled the creditors, help me budget and slowly but surely I have been clearing my debt through stepchange. You helped me survive and get through the darkest times, you would cope with my tearful telephone conversations and your reassurances. My grandaughter now has a grandma and the will to live longer. Step Change listen. There is no need to be frightened talking to them if you are in debt. They explain the process fully and how they can help. They sort your debts out. They leave you enough so you can still live. You may speak to them at any time, even with regular questions if you are not sure. Reviewed on: 2nd June 2025
