Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE

I was under water for years, robbing Peter to pay Paul when I seen a TV advert for Step Change. They didn't judge, just gave me advice and support and helped me deal with my financial situation. I'm now 3 months away from being debt free for the first time in 25 years! I can't tell you how that feels! Thank you Step Change - you really did save me life, and I only wish I had contacted you sooner. PLEASE make contact with them if you're struggling - best thing I ever done. Step change made a massive difference to our lives.

Step change made a massive difference to our lives. It got us back in control, there help was great, talked us through all the steps, what would happen and when and if any problems arose with our creditors they gave us advice. My phone would be ringing every hour before they helped, with someone wanting money and it was stressful. Now I got the odd phone call and I know what to say. My life is now going in a positive direction, and will of paid my debts off in just over 4 years. I delayed thinking I could sort my debts out, I wish I had contacted stepchange earlier. Brilliant service!

I was recommended to try Stepchange in 2020 as I had credit card debt which was getting on top of me. They make it so easy. I did a budget plan and they look at your outgoings and advise an amount to pay back a month which they then distribute to your creditors. So it’s just one payment a month and this is reviewed annually and changed accordingly (taking into account whether you can afford to pay a bit more or you need to pay a bit less). I am now debt free and highly recommend them. Their advisors are always helpful give a fantastic service. Reviewed on: 28th May 2025

Compassionate service

I was desperate when I contacted StepChange. I thought I was going to lose my house. But they worked with my personal circumstances and we have funds for our pets and are paying the mortgage arrears. It was such a relief. The budget is tight but manageable. Reviewed on: 28th May 2025
