Disproportionate charges

I took out a comprehensive van insurance policy with Autonet 16 days ago for an annual premium of £370. Shortly afterwards, the van was found to be beyond repair and the garage replaced it with a like-for-like vehicle. When I contacted Autonet to update the policy with the new van's details, I was told it would cost £179 to make the change—more than half the annual premium. I considered this excessive and asked to cancel the policy instead, only to be told that cancellation would also cost £179. After I challenged the charge and the matter was referred to a supervisor, Autonet agreed to reduce the fee by £100 as a goodwill gesture, leaving a charge of £79. I found the whole experience extremely disappointing. The charges quoted appeared wholly disproportionate, particularly given that I was simply replacing the insured vehicle with a like-for-like van only 16 days into the policy. Rather than trying to help resolve the situation fairly, I felt I was met with unreasonable fees and had to challenge the decision before any flexibility was shown. This experience has left me with little confidence in Autonet's customer service or its commitment to treating customers fairly. Reviewed on: 2nd August 2026

Will pull a "Webuyanycar" move on you

Phoned in had passenger door bashed in and passenger mirror broken , They scrapped van .No mention of a courtesy van. List price for 4K van doesnt cover a car let alone a van , was told would get assesor out after I sent images of broken van in , no calls no emails , phoned in to cancel scrapping , was told no problem , they sub out car replacemnet and assesing to markercar , gentleman on phon esaid cancellation no problem , then got snotty emails from Autonet saying phone us now , your premium has gone up by £120 , currently on hold for an eon trying to cancel . Shaftsters !!!.

I recently purchased van insurance from Autonet insurance and all seemed to be fine until after a couple of weeks they emailed requesting a copy of the front and second page of V5 Document saying if they did not receive by the end of September they would have to cancel policy. I therefore took a photo of both pages and on the 28th emailed to the address they supplied. It sent and I heard nothing back so was stupidly thinking all was ok. However, this morning ie the 13th October I opened the mail that arrived on Saturday to find a letter from Autonet dated 30th September saying my policy was cancelled and the had charged me £55 for the privilege !! This also meaning that we had unknowingly been driving around in an un insured vehicle for 12 days !! When finally getting through to customer service I was told they could not find my email with photos of V5 and more or less told that I was a liar !! I am just glad that we had no incidents during those 12 days as where would I stand then ? Stay clear as I would imagine this happens quite often. Reviewed on: 13th October 2025

Potentially acting fraudulentlly

I loaned my friend my van 2 weeks ago, he had an accident. I asked if could make a claim, they said no because he was not a named driver. That was fine, he is paying me out of his own pocket. No claim made. So I had to find another van Today they will not swap over or refund my policy because there is an open claim, even though they told me there is no cover. I checked there is no claim with the underwriters or the Accident Management Company. I have now wasted 3 hours this morning getting passed from one department to another. Still on the phone waiting. In dealing with Insurance Companies for 33 Years this is one of the worst companies to deal with. They decided to keep the money even though there has been no claim. Diddy insurance company

Quote went through then changed it because of a claim my named driver wife never had, and wanted £200 more to add her or £200 admin to take her off as the 2nd named driver. So I cancelled and they still wanted £25 even though it was less than 5 days since the policy started. I’d avoid at all costs, as I reckon they’d be a nightmare if making any claim. Do not use they are crooks, customer service is absolutely horrendous, i am being charged for cancelling my policy early. i no longer have the vehicle and they are telling me i still need to pay. Reviewed on: 17th September 2024

JUST DONT USE THEM

Horrific. I tried cancelling my policy after being with them for 6 months. They very generously offered to waive the cancellation fee, but there was no refund to me and i owed them money for early cancellation. Reviewed on: 5th October 2023

Avoid

Wrong details on their behalf on policy I took out so cancelled 2 days later and should have had a full refund, didn't, 3 more phonecalls that were hard work, customer service diabolical, still owe me money. Reviewed on: 4th October 2023
