Bicycle Accident

I had an accident with a bicycle pedal in May when holidaying in Spain. I thought that it would heal quickly and my July/August trip to Finland would not be affected. However, the wound did not heal well and I was still receiving daily treatment in the UK when my departure for Finland came around. I have an annual policy with Avanti and new that I would have to inform them of my situation in spite of making no claims on my travel policy (all my treatment in Spain was taken care of under my European Health Insurance Card - it won't be when Brexit takes place!). My GP confirmed that I was fit to travel to Finland although I would continue to require treatment for the wound (cleaning & dressing). The Avanti customer services representative contacted the insurance underwriters and confirmed that I could continue with the annual travel insurance without any increase in premium, although any claim relating to my Spanish bicycle accident would not be covered. I considered this to be fair. Again my European Health Insurance Card covered me for the treatment that I have been having in Finland (visiting local medical centre on alternate days), and the leg is finally getting better. Good Avanti customer representative, and sensible decision by the underwriters. Reviewed on: 31st July 2017

HELP WHEN NEEDED

We bought Travel Insurance in late 2019 for our annual trip to South Africa in March 2020, obviously this never happened and we’re still waiting for SA to be removed from the red list. Avanti assured us then that we would not lose out and they are still keeping their word. One can’t ask for more, congratulations Avanti. Reviewed on: 18th September 2021

Helpful organisation

Excellent call handler

I excellent person on phone. I had a few health issues and she arranged to ring back 3 weeks later. I had to have a heart scan and she rang back 6 weeks later when I purchased cruise cover. Excellent service. Reviewed on: 18th September 2021

Quick of the mark with Covid cover

Excellent company
