Bicycle Accident

I had an accident with a bicycle pedal in May when holidaying in Spain. I thought that it would heal quickly and my July/August trip to Finland would not be affected. However, the wound did not heal well and I was still receiving daily treatment in the UK when my departure for Finland came around. I have an annual policy with Avanti and new that I would have to inform them of my situation in spite of making no claims on my travel policy (all my treatment in Spain was taken care of under my European Health Insurance Card - it won't be when Brexit takes place!). My GP confirmed that I was fit to travel to Finland although I would continue to require treatment for the wound (cleaning & dressing). The Avanti customer services representative contacted the insurance underwriters and confirmed that I could continue with the annual travel insurance without any increase in premium, although any claim relating to my Spanish bicycle accident would not be covered. I considered this to be fair. Again my European Health Insurance Card covered me for the treatment that I have been having in Finland (visiting local medical centre on alternate days), and the leg is finally getting better. Good advice and price when needing travel insurance.

Having tried several travel insurance companies, being in the upper age bracket, it was great to receive a quote which covered all that was needed by the travel company for a three day cruise around Britain. Reviewed on: 19th September 2021

"THE PROOF IS IN THE EATING"

My only praise can be that they supplied Covid-19 travel insurance at a price when my existing insurer and many other insurers would not. Other than that it is impossible for me to comment further. There is a saying “The proof is in the eating” fortunately for me and Avanti I did not have to make a claim, that’s when you find out how good an insurer is. I can say that I have had continuous travel insurance from many companies over the past 55yrs and “touch wood” I have not made a single claim. Reviewed on: 19th September 2021
