established company, rather expensive

Auto Annual rolling insurance even tho telephoned and cancelled twice!

I found this year I had pair for unknowingly on car insurance even tbo I had cancelled it Check your bank accounts, and e-mail comms and ask for confirmation, otherwise it could cost you! Reviewed on: 22nd July 2017

Very poor policy management and claims handling

We have a policy through Skoda Insurance but this is actually AVIVA - marketing through Skoda. When our policy came up for renewal it listed 5 claims that were being taken in to account. 3 of these were "real" of which 2 were "in dispute" as to who was liable. My wife - who drives more than I do - was the driver in all cases. 2 more were listed with me as the driver. These were not real - just 2 of the other claims re-listed with me as the driver. When I contacted Aviva they acknowledged the error of repetition but told me they had settled a whiplash injury for an incident in which my wife had just touched a parked van with no claimed damage to the van. My wife had been manoeuvring at about 2 miles an hour and just touched the offside rear corner of the parked van. Neither my wife or my son - who was in the car felt any impact and there was no claimed damage to the van - but apparently a person who claimed they were in the parked vehicle (we suspect no-one was actually in it) subsequently claimed for whiplash and they agreed to settle even though we pay for legal representation and the claim was palpably fraudulent. The second claim - in which our car was struck from behind by a large lorry on a roundabout - is also being very poorly managed with incorrect information about the status of the claim being sent to us. This is ongoing - but again being very poorly managed. (I could go on.......) Reviewed on: 22nd July 2017

Would recommend

Found Aviva to be brilliant much cheaper than other insurers, very easy to set up, great discounts and other incentives. Can update and amend policies online, renewal online. Get any support online which is a plus as not always wanting to speak to people on the phone, found it very quick and easy this way. Second year with them and not increased much at all. Top class customer service

I've recently moved over to multi car with Aviva and had a few glitches online so gave them a call. The young lady I spoke to was absolutely brilliant. She spoke me through and get me a fantastic package. I contacted them online just a few weeks later to ask if I could upgrade to SDP&C and this was done in the space of 5 minutes with no extra charge. Brilliant! Reviewed on: 19th July 2017

Check the small print

Whilst I haven't had to make a claim, I was disappointed to find out when adding a temporary driver to our fully comp multi-car policy - our daughter who is away at uni most of the year - coos only drive for a maximum of 30 days over the duration of the policy - only thing I was disappointed with mind.
