NOT WORTH SAVING ALL THE LOST INTEREST GOING TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Appallingly the Bath Building Society disproportionately reduces savings interest rates. The derisory low interest rate on savings is the true test of serving members/customers not with the untrustworthy marketing words and the Bath Building Society FAILS the test, it acts more like a BIG BAD BANK. Savers are paramount, without their cash the Building Society way collapses and hence reward them with a worthwhile interest rate for THEIR CASH, which is NOT the current state. Reply from Bath Building Society Thank you for your feedback. It simply is not true to say that we have disproportionately reduced our interest rates. All of our rates are competitive and are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that remains the case. It was as a result of such a review that we last week increased the rates on our 60 Day notice account from 0.60% to 0.80% AER despite the Bank of England base rate being at all time low of 0.10%. Even this weekend we were featured in the The Mail's 'Best Buy' tables for our Junior ISA account. If you compare any of our savings rates with comparable accounts offered by the high street banks I am certain that we will compare very favourably. If this is not the case then please contact me directly and I will review this. You are however correct in saying that savers are key and more than that, most of our savers are actually members and as such 'owners'. Our profits are only ever paid back to our members in interest or reinvested for the long term sustainability of the Society. We do not have any other shareholders! As well as having competitive accounts I am pleased to confirm that we have some new accounts being launched in the next few weeks that will further demonstrate our commitment both to our loyal members but also to encouraging the savings habits of our younger members. Filling the gap

I am able to create saving accounts for my friends' children that shows the accumulated amounts in their own books that can be presented on their 18th birthdays. I can't do this anywhere else. This is a great service for me. Reviewed on: 8th June 2020

Withdrawal templates

It was only when I couldn't access my local branch that I went to your website to download an account withdrawal form. Unfortunately it seems I have to write a letter to head office. I'm very capable of doing this but found it unusual not to be able to access a template for the purpose. If for no other reason it gives a prompt to your customer of what information is required. Other than that very happy with the service (I usually use the Staple Hill branch and always find them very helpful). Reviewed on: 7th June 2020

Pleasant and helpful bank

I had a very good experience every time when contacted Bath Building Society for various reasons. Staff is helpful and always responds to the queries in a timely manner. Well I find this "review" confusing : does 10 stars mean "Not loved at all"? My experience at the branch is always good. "Bath Online" I find has difficulties, which are probably due to my great age and relatively fixed thoughts, but why cannot website designers get together and have a standard design so that websites are more easy to use? I was taught that when writing you should think of the Reader. The same applies to designing a website. Aim for clarity. And more on this "Review" : I do not want to "publish" my review. I am happy for the management of BIBS to read it, but I am not writing it for the public. Reviewed on: 6th June 2020

Clearly with the Bank of England base rate at an all time low of 0.10% it is difficult to get excited about interest rates in general at the moment. I can however confirm that Moneyfacts rates all of our core savings rates as at least 'competitive' and even this weekend The Mail included us in their best buy tables for our Junior ISA account.
