Over 4 weeks delay in fixing a broken boiler

We have been with British gas for years and never had a problem with them coming out to fix our heating but woke up this morning with no heating or hot water. Rang BG and was offered an engineer in a months time end of January. Totally unacceptable! No apology just said all urgent slots were full because everyone claims to be old and infirm. Called a private gas engineer and between us sorted problem. British Gas would just leave us to freeze Reviewed on: 31st December 2022

Waste Of Money

Booked engineer on 18/11, appointment 06/12....quite a wait, what with bowls under two sinks to catch leaks, but we went with it. On the day, engineer is ill, no other engineers in the whole of London to stand in until 20/12. They don't answer the phone. Reviewed on: 6th December 2022

If I could, I would give zero stars for home insurance

I took out BG home insurance because I was very impressed with how professional there engineers were when replacing my boiler and the following yearly services (10 stars) but wow am I disappointed with their home insurance (0 stars) After reporting a mains leak 2 weeks ago and waiting a week for a claims number (due they say to (technical problems) water is still flooding my garden/drive and road. I have telephoned them numerous times waited in the queue for them to answer and have 4 times been told "we will sort it and ring you back" they have not telephoned me at all, so I keep ringing them. In the meantime water pressure has built up in the ground and burst the sewer pipe,double trouble now. I am 83 live alone and am sick of bailing out water. Straightforward to claim

I had to make a claim due to a burst water pipe. British Gas were straightforward, uncomplicated and dealt with the claim in a timely manner. Overall I was pleased with their insurance services. Reviewed on: 3rd September 2021

Home insurance

Stay away from British Gas home insurance, they sell it through Covea insurance claim for burnt carpet, quotes for £1300 to replace offered £285 after £350 excess. Policy was new for old. Disgraceful! Reviewed on: 23rd April 2021

Uncontactable!

I wanted to renew my home insurance but could not access my account as I needed my policy number to access my account, which contained my policy number to access my account........ etc. ! There is absolutely no way to contact them, I've trawled every possibility, no email address, no phone number, no quick and easy way. Result, their loss and another companies gain. Bye BG! Poor and incompetent

The carbon monixide alarm went off on a Wednesday , the initial fas board person has to come and shut the gas. British Gas had to be called about 10 times to follow up for the actual repairs . Now thet say the earliest they can do is Monday! And this is supposed to be "Emergency Service'. Be withooit heating for 6 days in freezing December! Never again with British Gas.
