By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Ideal for low mileage customers

As a low mileage user this insurance company offers a far fairer cover. The app itself is great, enabling me to see exactly what I’m paying for. Being able to see where I’ve been and when (and how long it’s taken me!) is also helpful, as well as meaning that the costs are completely transparent and you can keep an eye on your usage easily. Very good concept and works very well for people like me who doesn't drive huge miles. Straight forward process and apps is absolutely helpful where you can track your spending and travel history. Low miles, low insurance, big smile.

Driving only 4000 miles per year it seemed absurd to be paying the same amount for insurance as someone doing 20000 miles p.a. By miles is the only insurer to recognize this and this is reflected in their sensible method of charging 'by miles' driven rather than a catch all premium. They also provide this excellent service with a smile and a bit of fun. Reviewed on: 10th September 2019
