By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

When looking at my insurance renewal based on my actual miles I was sceptical with ByMiles being the most competitive. My miles were much less now I am working from home but my existing insurer seemed to just want to increase my premium. I read the great reviews on ByMiles and took out a policy. Miles tracker was easy to fit. My old insurer rang me to see if I was renewing, I said “no” and they suddenly knocked £200 off without me giving out ByMiles’ premium. If you want affordable annual car insurance, by miles was by far the cheapest. The best bit is the longer you stay with them each year you see a huge drop in your annual. I would have stayed with them but because my car was vandalised, the underwriters would not let me carry on my policy. You can ofcourse join as a new customer but your premiums would be high. Innovative, economical insurance

So pleased I switched to by miles. Their quote was by far the most competitive particularly for someone like me, who lives in central London and hardly uses the car. Setting up was simple and I love the fact the device to track miles comes with an easy to use app and doubles up as a tracker. Reviewed on: 5th August 2021

Simple, fair, good value

I can easily keep a check on usage via the app and it also lets me see where I’m parked. The daily cap helps with occasional longer journeys and otherwise it is so simple I don’t have to think about it at all. Perfect! Reviewed on: 5th August 2021

I am very happy with the insurance provided , the added bonus for me is the car tracker provided , it can display a timeline of your journeys and run a car health check using an app on your phone. Reviewed on: 5th August 2021

Simple insurance that breaks the mould

A fantastic product which was so easy to set up. A few teething issues with a faulty miles tracker, but this was quickly resolved and I was not charged for the miles not being recorded during this time. At renewal time I got a cheaper price by requesting a new quote (as it was a different underwriter) and the team were more than happy to help me get this policy set up and transfer the policy to my existing miles tracker on the day so I didn't need to worry about getting a new one again. What a great concept!

I am a civil servant working from home, so literally use my car once a week to run errands. By Miles insurance means I pay for what I use, so saves me significant money with the knowledge that I’m covered in full. Customer service is great and the app is simple to use and even tells you how much a potential journey will cost you. I even get messages from the car letting me know if the battery is low and needs a drive out to charge it! Reviewed on: 5th August 2021
