By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

I don't drive alotand since Covid Lockdown etc even less. But it seemed where ever I tried to get insurance, the quotes were outrageous! Ridiculous prices for someone who hardly ever drives, until I came upon By Miles. They let me insure my car (my legal requirement) and I only pay for driving when I drive. I will definitely be staying with them! The app is great. Customer service is friendly and efficient. And the policy I got is fully comp! Great company. I highly recommend.. MY CAR WAS HIT BY ANOTHER DRIVER IN MARCH AND I AM STILL AWAITING ASSISTANCE FROM YOUR DEPARTMENT TO DATE. NOT HELPFUL WITH THIS MATTER, AFTER CHASING UP.

Usage-based pricing is the way forward

We rarely use the car but found that other insurance companies were quoting hundreds each month when in reality we use the car for a handful of trips (even less during Covid) We were a bit unsure at first as predictability with monthly spend is a good thing, but noticed that our bills are often £30-50 a month, about half the price of the other insurance companies. The app is cool too, handy to be able to get near real-time updates on how much a journey costs (also makes you think twice about using the car) Reviewed on: 4th August 2021
