By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

I have experienced really good customer service with by miles. The live chat function in the app makes it really easy to get in contact with someone from the team. I love that I can pay monthly and only for the miles I actually do! For years I was paying for an estimated amount of miles which I mostly went for the higher figure (more expensive) just to be on the safe side. With pay by miles my journeys are recorded and I get notified how much a journey cost. Only paying for the amount I drive suits me perfect as I do not tend to do long journeys often etc. Would definitely recommend checking it out. Reviewed on: 21st August 2025

Installing the dongle was a breeze and all I’ve ever done is save money on my daily commute, I’ve renewed twice now and referred friends and earned free miles doing so. The only insurance company that rewards customers for loyalty. Reviewed on: 20th August 2025

I did have a problem with the tracker. Their customer service was excellent. Firstly they Sent a cable extension so the tracker could be mounted on the dash. This didn’t work so they sent a replacement tracker. All OK and wasn’t charged for the miles done while the tracker was faulty Reviewed on: 20th August 2025
