By Miles charge a fixed cost that covers a car while it’s parked. The rest is based on the actual miles driven. Customers can either plug in the matchbox-sized Miles Tracker, or for newer cars, you can connect By Miles directly with your car’s mileometer.

Pay for use! As it should be.

I really love this idea for insurance. As someone who only uses their car sporadically, the fact I only pay for when I do use the car is such a money saver for me. I honestly don't think I would ever want to go back to the overpriced yearly "estimated mileage" model of car insurance, because it's not like they really give you a fair refund for doing half the mileage you thought you would. I also feel I'm not being charged for the recklessness of other less considerate drivers as I know my charges per mile and get almost instant updates on my charges per journey. Quick and easy fair insurance!

By miles is by far my best driving insurance company and I’ve been through many insurers in past decade. There’s no over pricing or hidden agendas you simply pay a fixed rate for the miles you cover. I had an excellent experience with bymiles after my tracker became unplugged. They responded so quickly to me when I queried this on the online chat, and advised me they would put a note on my account which explained how my tracker had been knocked out.
