We have been with the caravan club for many years without making a claim, but in the last 2 years our caravan was broken in twice ,the recent break in they stole 3 windows and broke 2 windows ,we were away when this happened ,so the caravan was open to all the rain and storm damage we had that week,until the storage covered up the windows a few days later,we got the insurance involved immediately, they sent an assor out to look,then a company picked up the van for repair,then came the blow,they offered us 2,900 for the replacement of window fridge ,gas heater that was stolen, They claim the damp had been there for some time ,but we always had it serviced on a regular basis and damp checked, they would not budge on the price ,now I'm gutted we have been let down Reviewed on: 11th December 2022

System Failure

Contacting the club to amend a policy is almost impossible. The online system do not allow changes to policy. Call handling system is overwhelmed. May some are not online !!!!!!!!!! Reviewed on: 22nd September 2022

Probably good if you need it

They have limited their insurance services and no longer offer public liability insurance for their CL owners. In essence their offerings are mainstream at best. However their customer support team do a good job overall. .

At the end of the day they are just a brokerage, but considering its supposed to be a non profit making club they could do better for their members. To much top end brass being paid excessive salaries for very little involvement or return. My impression is that they are now a long way from what they originally set out to be as a members club. Over a barrel

If you want to be insured by the caravan club you have to be a member. So that increases their membership numbers and also your premiums by the cost of membership. Reviewed on: 20th August 2020

I found that the camping and caravanning club were more friendly. I only joined your club for insurance. that is no longer the truth. Reviewed on: 2nd July 2020

Inflexible covee

Insurance tailored to caravan owners but my experience is that specific features of individual models are not sufficiently considered. For example, a twin axle wheel lock discount is only applied if both axles are locked. This is not possible in mist cases without jacking up the caravan. This is not practicable in many situations and the discount is therefore not allowed. Reviewed on: 7th September 2017

Very pricey compared to other insurers

There may be a lot included in the insurance package but what is it you really need? What should this policy really cost. Most things covered by house insurance, when you are towing your car insurance covers the van. Security requirement change yearly after buying very expensive wheel locks I was told the following year they were not good enough. foreign cover total scam in my experience when my wheel bearing on the tow car failed in France having paid just shy of £400 for a two weeks holiday cover I had to call the nearest garage arrange the vehicle collection, although I could call the help line any time of the day what did they actually do for the money???. The Renault garage were exellent they only took three days to fix. The insurance then only covered £80 of the labour. So I recommend a different insurance provider next time. When ever I used to renew the policy I have always been met with friendly helpful well versed sales staff . If you were wondering about my Experience in France " if we call the garage for you to arrange things we have found them non responsive unfortunately to us Brits, it is best for you to call them they will sort it out, if have any trouble please call back". This was the advise given to me on the claims line. Reviewed on: 9th August 2017
