Nothing is too much trouble when asking for information about the products and services offered. Visiting their HQ is enlightening as they showcase the environmental and sustainable actions they promote and enable through their lending policies. Actions really do speak louder than words! Sleep at night, save sustainably!

I opened savings accounts for my children who've grown up green and ethical, and when I had some spare money to save, opened a Regular Savings A/C. As, like many people at the moment, my income has dropped, I was able to scale down to the minimum level by phone, and the person I spoke to sorted My debit immediately. Flexible, easy ! Savings to support imaginative carbon-saving projects and houses

The Ecology stated life in 1981 with a capital of £5000 and an aspiration to become an ethical lender for sustainable housing projects. According to Wikipedia: The purpose of the Society is to achieve the greatest degree of environmental sustainability. It lends money to create and maintain sustainable housing stock, preferably with sustainable communities and green enterprise. Its funding is secured with the least degree of environmental degradation possible, and with the greatest degree of stakeholder endorsement obtainable. It has filled a niche role all its life and now has assets approaching £200 million. Its AGMs before lockdown attracted hundreds of savers and borrowers and provided a forum for discussions on all the green issues of the day. I am proud to be a saver with the Ecology. Such important work

Housing represents a high proportion of our carbon emissions. Ecology work with their customers to ensure that their carbon us is minimised, both during construction and while the home is being lived in. If only more lenders encouraged this in their borrowers. Reviewed on: 11th March 2021
