Avoid

Absolutely shocked that my insurance isn’t actually with Halifax just a broker.I registered my claim with Halifax great right?wrong no one told me I had to then do the same thing again but with my actual insurer, wich caused a delay and I’ve had no car for a week now.Had to beg and borrow a car. Also if you think your car gets smashed you get a courtesy car right away you don’t.Once the repair starts on your car you get a car so be prepared to not have a car.Avoid might aswell cut out the useless middle man. Terrible

1
I have been waiting three weeks since reporting a accident to Halifax car insurance and I am still no nearer getting the repair done. The accident wasn't my fault and the other party admitted responsibility so there is no problem there. I have not had any update as to what is happening. I wouldn't use Halifax insurance again and would advise against anyone taking insurance with them, they are really terrible. Reviewed on: 25th October 2021

Never again

I recommend you look elsewhere. A driver drove into the back of my car on the M11. The driver admitted liability which I recorded. The two lorries that who witnessed the incident gave me their contact nos. to pass to my insurance company, which I did that same day.  To cut a long story short Halifax said the driver said I was driving without due care and that the lorry drivers said the same. I called both drivers while I had Halifax listening in on my mobile, and guess what the drivers said they never received a call from Halifax! Well that was sorted or so I thought. I was in the middle of my contact and when it came time for renewal I was quoted £2000! Why for a car accident that wasn't my fault and a lazy employee at Halifax insurance who didn't update on the database. Reviewed on: 27th August 2021

Scandal

Two months ago my girlfriend was on the roundabout and suddenly white Audi A1 hit her on the left side. She had a priority, when she was on roundabout. Many times I informed Halifax and asked when they want take my car for repair.Still my car is broken after two months, and nobody form Halifax car insurance took care of it. Scandal, scandal, scandal Reviewed on: 21st August 2021

Very Impressed

Contacted Halifax the morning after I had had an accident and wrote off my car. Very helpful and understanding. I was passed over to the underwriters, Ageas, and after a few hiccups (namely the permission for my husband to deal with the claim). After discussion and sending photos over of the car a settlement was agreed and the money was in my bank the following day (72 hours after my accident) Reviewed on: 12th August 2021

DO NPOT USE HALIFAX CAR INSURANCE

1
I'm a grandmother living on her own in a very rural area and after making my claim over a week ago I am still waiting for a courtesy car. The staff are inept, unintelligent, without integrity. You will spend hours on the phone trying to resolve your issues. You will waste time & money and create a lot of stress & illness should you use this incompetent s h i t company. Stay away. Be warned Reviewed on: 29th July 2021

Profiteering and dishonesty.

I recently added my 17 year old Son to my existing policy. He is 17 and holds a provisional license. When I added him my premium doubled but I knew it would be expensive so I continued. Over the next couple of weeks I was able to take him out for some driving lessons but as his exams were coming up the opportunity to take him out became rarer I therefore decided to cancel his insurance via the online servicing portal. I logged on, and confirmed that I would like to take him off the policy. Guess what, my monthly premiums went up by 9GBP per month. So it was now more expensive to insure just myself (more than double existing) than to insure my 17 Son and myself. I then called the helpline and was not given any explanation of why this happened but was told if I wanted to take my Son off the policy there would be a substantial increase to what I was paying previously just for myself and that my no claims would be effected. At this point I wrote to customer services to complain. There was no explanation in the final reply other than to offer to waive the 58GBP cancellation fee, if I cancelled the policy by a certain date. I wrote back by that date and confirmed that I wished to cancel having obtained equivalent insurance elsewhere for less that half of what I was paying originally. Halifax then sent me a default notice stating that the policy was still active and I was due to pay them immediately. I phoned customer service again to explain that I had written to confirm that I wanted to cancel the policy and was told it was not possible to cancel cover in writing it had to be done over the phone and I was liable to pay up to date (which was several weeks later). At this point I had to read the correspondence that was sent to me stating that I should write to my contact to cancel. Eventually the person agreed and said that he would cancel from the time that I had cancelled and no further charges would be applicable from that time. To understand that Halifax wanted to charge me more than double my existing premium to take my Son off cover is absurd. To understand that it was now more expensive to cover just myself rather than my 17 year old Son and myself is absurd. To be told it is impossible to write to cancel a policy is dishonest. In my opinion the algorithm that sets the premiums has to be rigged. In my opinion this is profiteering and FCA need to investigate. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2021

car ins renewal

1
I have just had my renewal in yesterday. Putting it mildly i nearly had a heart attack. Last year it was over £700. being that i have a Honda Jazz and its thieves paradise. They stole my catalistc Convertor from outside my house at about 1pm broad daylight. Naturally i ran Halifax straight away.Cutting it short she said she would ring me back. still waiting.in the end i got the car repairs on the thursday this happened on the tuesday. Rang them back and told them that i was not claiming and make sure it was on my policy. She said its done. Until yesterday when I checked my new renewal. From £700 and now £1500?. I rang and wanted an explanation why it had gone up. Guess what because I had CLAIMED. So if you have the same problem make sure you check when it comes. Waiting now for the new bill. Not holding my breath. The car's worth £900 Reviewed on: 9th July 2021

Dreadful, never ending charges. !!AVOID!!

1
Dreadful !!AVOID!! The reviews here are all saying the same thing SHOCKING!!! Avoid these like the plague. Majority of insurance companies I have had allowed one change of policy (My private plate) before a charge, not these muppets, 25 quid. I have now bought another car and of course another 25 quid to change.... AND the cost for new insurance went up 10 quid from the initial quote "because you have started the policy 3 day's earlier Mr C". What the EFF..!! Can't wait until the policy ends, never again.. Beware when you cancel, they still take your money!!!

1
Despite spending 35 minutes on hold and going through all the reasons why their renewal quote wasn’t of interest to me, and cancelling it over two weeks before it’s renewal, they still took the money out of my bank. They had logged my instruction to cancel when I did but took my money anyway. When I called to see what had happened they said that the refund could take 2 weeks even though it was their mistake. This was the last thing I needed with all the Christmas spending. Cheers Halifax, you are a disgusting arrogant company. Reviewed on: 11th December 2020
