Getting a mortgage

In 2015 I needed to buy a house again from scratch due to personal circumstances. At this time I was nearing retirement from local government and needed to use my pension and lump sum in support of my application. Coincidently, at this time the government changed the pension rules to allow large lump sums to downloaded from pension schemes. Prior to my application to the Mansfield building society, I had just received a mortgage approve from another building society, which 2 days after receiving the approval, was withdrawn by them giving the above government decision as the reason. Following this I tried several other building societies without success until my financial advisor recommended the Mansfield building society I found you very professional, helpful and understanding of my circumstances and without your help I would have been unable to buy a house. Excellent service

We had to go with a specialist mortgage supplier as we are foster carers. I thought the interest rates were high and remain so against the 'normal' market and I still dont understand why FC's are penalised in this way. However, the whole experience from a customer support view in all of mt dealings with the Mansfield was superb - friendly, informative, prompt and delivered on everything they committed to doing! All I can say to the Mansfield is thank you. My husband and I have been renting for the last 12 years, always wanting to buy a house but a few bad choices in my past and lack of deposit always stopped us, and even brokers told it was not possible. Then I came across the Mansfield and their Family assist mortgage and we thought let's see if this can work for us and it did. Everyone we dealt with was amazing and treated us like humans and take a very practical and logical approach to our application. My only critique would be to be more explicit about what the guarantor legal work involves as we were of the impression it was just the legal advice however it also needed to include the legal arrangements for the legal charge on property which more than doubled my parents solicitors fees. However I would not hesitate to recommend the Mansfield to anyone, our experience as been amazing. Mansfield were excellent

I can recommend Mansfield to everyone. They made things as simple as possible which was a huge relief. My policy had no penalty for paying it off early which is rare and they all seemed like the old days when customer service and no nonsense were the rules of the day. Brilliant all round.
