We took up Bought By Many insurance after it being recommended repeatedly by others and they were right to do so as it is easy to set up, easy to use and claim and quick to pay out when our puppy had a foreign body in it's throat. Reviewed on: 16th September 2020

Avoid. Will not pay out large claims

I have been paying manypets between 150 and 180 and month for 5 years. I thought I would pay for a high quality insurer to get the best service, how wrong I was. I could have picked the lowest priced insurer and got the same rubbish service. In April I had a scan for my dogs limp. I raised a claim for the scan and waited for manypets to pay back to me. In the months that followed. My dog was diagnosed with cancer, lived out his final months, died and his ashes returned to me in a box. STILL manypets have not processed his initial claim. They are doing everything they can to avoid paying out, dragging their feet at every possible step. I realise now that I wasted that money and could have just used the cheaper insurers and got the same results. Reviewed on: 5th June 2024

Tokk £160 from our bank after the policy was cancelled!

We decided to cancel our policy with Many pets as the renewal quote was 100% higher than previous year! We already have conditions which are excluded, so the amounts we claim have been very minimal. £160 per month for a cocker spaniel is ridiculous! Anyway, I cancelled the policy online, but surprise surprise the robbing company MANY PETS have decided to take £160 from our bank account today, AFTER THE POLICY WAS CANCELLED!!!! I rang them and apparently it is going to take 10 days for us to get the money back! Seriously!!! This is causing us not being able to make our direct debit payments or buy petrol now!!! Total daylight robbery!! I have filed a complaint and will be taking this to financial ombudsman! AVOID this company at all cost! You will end up penniless! There was no apology or empathy! Good at first but if you claim the price of your premium will rocket up, mine tripled in a year! The company is losing a lot of money and this is being forced onto customers. Its a nightmare to contact anyone and you cant change your payments date. Stay well clear! Reviewed on: 6th February 2024

Watch out for deductions for a £25 admin fee and £1 blood bank deduction on top of the excess you have to pay. Couldn't see anywhere in the policy that makes customers aware that you'll have these deducted from any claim you make. Reviewed on: 31st January 2024

Not paying out claims fast enough

I am a disabled pensioner and put in a claim for my pet a month ago, in fact there are four claims. My pet needs more urgent treatment and I can't pay for this until Many Pets have reimbursed me. What are we supposed to do, surrender our pets to a rescue as we can't afford to have further treatment? This is disgusting, we pay our insurance every month and this is how they treat their customers! Reviewed on: 29th January 2024

Hi there. I’m a very unhappy customer, who has used your service since it was bought by many. I have spent 10 years insuring my two Great Danes with you. Having just lost one beloved dog I am appalled at your exclusions at end of life care and the fundamental cover which you claim to offer. This is a warning to all people that use this company. Read the small print. They do not cover what you think. Avoid this company. Shocking. We are heartbroken at our loss and disappointed and disgusted that the company we trusted has let us down at this time. Our premium went from £200 per month, to £600 per month. I have a recurring claim payment with them for my dogs heart medication that has now not been paid for 3 months, constantly contacting them with no reply, can no longer afford my dogs tablets due to the money owed. Price increased by 119.23% this year. When looking at other good insurance companies it looks like even what I was paying before was over the odds so I don't know how they could justify the price increase.
