Pet insurance

Following accident where dog required removal of object blocking the intestines, the process for claiming via the website was easy to navigate with clear instructions, with a very prompt response. We had electronic receipts from our vet which made the process very straightforward. Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

Easy pet insurance claim

I had to make a claim this year as my Cockapoo suffered an aural haematoma. Many Pets were fantastic, settling the claim very quickly and with no fuss at all. I have recommended to friends and family. Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

Read my cautionary tale....

I have been with many pets for over 5 years now but sadly I cannot recommend them. If you take out pet insurance as peace of mind for unexpected big vet bills then PLEASE do not trust them with this as it will leave you considerably out of pocket but will also cause undue stress, worry and anxiety. We have always paid our day to day vet bills out of our own pocket and kept our pet insurance purely for big unexpected bills. What follows below is our very stressful and still unresolved claim process so you can make up your own mind if it is worth the stress and hassle. This is our first and only claim ever submitted. On the 22nd of January 24 our cat unexpected became seriously ill and we took her to our closest out of hours cat hospital (not our normal vets). We were told she is seriously ill and her survival rate is very low as she was poisoned (might have ate or drank something unintentionally) . Miraculously she eventually pulled through but we were left with a bill of £1983. Just the kind of thing you take out pet insurance for. This is our claim process; 29/01: Submit claim to manypet and they confirmed receipt 08/03: Received an email from handler asking for our normal vets contact details for obtaining her 2 medical history. I provide the requested contact details and medical history. 11/03: Got email stating working on claim 09/04: After no update I emailed and ask for update on the claim. I got a reply to state that my cat breed does not match to breed listed by the out of hours vet (who just assumed breed) and claim is rejected. I sent an email addressing the discrepancy (providing proof) and ask how to proceed. 15/04: I follow up on my email of 09/04 – no reply 29/04: I follow up again – no reply 10/05: I follow up – no reply 15/05: I follow up- no reply 20/05: After no reply I resubmit the claim for £1983 adding all details regarding breed discrepancy, 2 year medical history and correspondence from previous claim. 29/05: Got confirmation email that they are working on claim 03/06: Got confirmation email that they are working on claim and all documents received. 05/06; I noticed they adjusted the claim amount to £1483 by not noting the vary obvious 1st entry on the invoice of my £500 deposit paid to vet. I emailed them to rectify – no reply 13/06: Followed up on my email about wrong claim amount – no reply 17/06: Received email to say I can check update on my claim online on their portal but no change. 01/07: Received email to say they are working on my claim 08/08: Asked for update – no reply and claim amount still wrong 14/08: Claim still with claim handler for wrong amount So as you can see it has now been nearly 7 months for what should be an easy claim to process as this is not related to any pre-existing conditions (not that my cat has any) I’m so disappointed with the way I have been treated. I have tried to ring them but abandoned numerous times after being 12, 14, 9th in the queue after 45 minutes. Manypets you should do better! Reviewed on: 14th August 2024

Excellent All round

I have had excellent customer service from many pets there website is fantastic and easy to understand you can choose your own excess and if you want to pay part of the bill or not, when I got a new kitten I instantly new I wanted to add them to the insurance they offer a huge amount of insurance so any possibility is covered they are good value aswell considering what they are offering, and I phoned to ask how the payment worked for adding my new pet and they made it so easy to understand and they were so friendly and kind, I'm so impressed with them and how it really is tailored to the owner and thier pet Reviewed on: 30th July 2024

Avoid this company like the plague.

Avoid this company like the plague. My dog Percy needed some blood tests which came to £560, I paid admin to the vet to send Percy’s medical history over for the claim. I’d just switched jobs so didn’t have much at all at the time so £560+ admin was a lot of money for me to pay out in one go and notified manypets of this when asking when the claim would be paid as I literally couldn’t afford food at one point. When signing up for the policy the form clearly states ‘ if you don’t know your pets exact age give your best estimate. ‘ I adopted Percy from my dad who I am not in contact with so couldn’t give an EXACT date so I gave my best guess. It took over a month for them to come back to me to say they couldn’t continue the claim as Percy’s birthday on the policy didn’t match the date on his vet records despite the form saying it doesn’t have to be exact. I called up and they gave me the ultimatum - pay £100 there and then to continue the claim or more a month and they’ll knock £100 off my claim payout to account for the mistake I chose the latter as I really had no money. I was then notified that they’ll look into my claim again only to be told yet another month later that they’re requesting Percy’s medical history AGAIN like I’d not just paid 2 months prior to send it over and they notified me saying they had it. They then had another issue to try not pay out over Percy not seeing a vet for 2 years when he was healthy and happy during that time and did not need to see a vet. Every time you send them an email the response is always “we can’t help you” and they’ve just had the audacity to email me saying they’re automatically renewing my policy and have upped the monthly price. Over three months later with endless emails to no avail I am STILL yet to be paid for this claim Reviewed on: 27th July 2024

Claim being ignored, emails being ignored.

Claim being ignored, emails being ignored. I Have followed up with them every week with no updates or replies. The claim was created correctly and the vet gave all the info needed. Not a precondition and still, we have received no reply after many weeks. Reviewed on: 18th June 2024

No communication or payment

Made a claim 26th Feb 2024 (three and a half months ago) - they've still not paid, it's not even been assigned a claim handler yet, have called up and sent numerous emails, even raised an official complaint which they have not responded to. On the phone they said I'd receive an update 7 to 10 days after but I was not contacted. I told them if I didn't hear back regarding my complaint within 8 weeks I would contact the financial ombudsman but they've not even responded to that. Awful company, they don't pay out and they don't communicate at all. They're happy to keep taking money for premiums though! Reviewed on: 9th June 2024

Avoid. Will not pay out large claims

I have been paying manypets between 150 and 180 and month for 5 years. I thought I would pay for a high quality insurer to get the best service, how wrong I was. I could have picked the lowest priced insurer and got the same rubbish service. In April I had a scan for my dogs limp. I raised a claim for the scan and waited for manypets to pay back to me. In the months that followed. My dog was diagnosed with cancer, lived out his final months, died and his ashes returned to me in a box. STILL manypets have not processed his initial claim. They are doing everything they can to avoid paying out, dragging their feet at every possible step. I realise now that I wasted that money and could have just used the cheaper insurers and got the same results. Reviewed on: 5th June 2024
