Review of the ManyPets, Pet insurance:

THE ONLY PET INSURANCE ANY PET OWNER SHOULD HAVE

5
These are by far the BEST pet insurance company you could ever wish for. I have recommended these to so many people...…………..friends, family and generally anyone who will listen. I've heard of so many horror stories from other people about other pet insurers where certain illnesses/ailments are not covered or they are until your beloved pet falls fail to one and then the following year they either won't cover it or raise the premium so high you need an extra mortgage to pay for it. I have a lifetime policy with Bought By Many where the monthly premium will never increase regardless of what treatments my bullies will need. There is a maximum lifetime amount per dog but to be honest the threshold is so high I hope there will never be a need for this to be exceeded. All of my dealings with Bought By Many in receiving reimbursements for claims have been very easy, quick and efficient and I have never had to quibble with the compensation due to me. They always keep me up to date on the status of my claim and any delay has generally been down to the vets but once Bought By Many had the information they needed they reimbursed me straight away, I think the longest I've had to wait is 4 weeks and as I said this was due to poor administration from the vet. Don't get me wrong, on paper the monthly payments may seem a lot higher than other insurers but people need to realise that you get what you pay for, yes I could insure my two bullies for a fraction of what Bought By Many cost however the cover would not be anywhere near as rock solid as it is with Bought By Many. I live with the confidence that God Forbid anything should happen to either of my dogs Bought By Many will cover the cost of the treatment and I will NEVER have to make a decision between my pets life or money. I really cannot express just how important having the right insurance for your pet is and I believe this is the ONLY insurance anyone with a pet should have. Pet insurance from anywhere else is not worth the paper it is written on! Well Done Bought By Many, I am so glad I am insured with them for my dogs sake and lives. Reviewed on: 15th September 2020

Takes an absolute age for ManyPets to credit 'Moneyback', each year it becomes longer and longer. Depending on who you speak with, there is little continuity - different agents tell you different information. The increase year on year on the policy price is also unacceptable - young animals and have never made a claim, not satisfied all round from the service I have received. Have obviously since changed provider. Reviewed on: 22nd December 2025

Avoid ManyPets.

1
Avoid ManyPets. They denied my claim by classifying an over-the-counter preventive urinary diet as “treatment” to force a pre-existing condition exclusion — despite my vet confirming it was not treatment. Even worse, the same food is not recognised as prescription food when it comes to reimbursement. Inconsistent, unfair, and clearly designed to avoid paying claims. I’ve cancelled my policy and would not recommend this insurer to anyone. Reviewed on: 15th December 2025

Do Not Recommend

Very poor customer service, bot like responses to queries. Renewal prices extortionate. Reviewed on: 23rd October 2025

Part of pre-approved claim refused due to amount

1
I’ve been with them for the second year now. My first claim (under £200) was approved, but as soon as the costs increased, they found reasons to decline, even though it was clearly part of the same ongoing claim. My policy explicitly covers pre-existing conditions, yet they are refusing to pay on the grounds that my cat has never been “clear of pre-existing symptoms” – despite my vet confirming that my cat has not been treated for this. Their reasoning is based only on the fact that we purchased a food supplement from the vet, which is not a valid justification under the policy. This feels like a deliberate attempt to avoid paying legitimate claims. I feel scammed and will be escalating this matter to the Financial Ombudsman and other relevant channels. Fantastic company

Fantastic company, very reasonable price, and have been so easy to deal with whenever we have needed to claim. Access to video vets has been exceptionally useful on several occasions too. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

Great communication and efficiency

Dealt with my claim quickly and efficiently, keeping me informed throughout the process, easing the stress of having an inured dog who needed a scan. They dealt directly with the vet practice. Would definitely recommend. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

Check 1 star reviews and company’s finances and avoid

1
This is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. AVOID this company at all costs is my advice. We pay over £40 per month for a mixed bread 2 year old dog. That’s a premium for a mixed breed and young dog. In my opinion the reason they have a fairly positive rating is that they pay out small claims quickly (we had 2 @£150 paid out within 36 hours) however they have delayed for nearly 2 months with regards dental treatment all of which is meant to be covered by our policy and cost us £700. They have queried our dogs breed (Podenco- a street dog all of which are mixed breed), whether she was spayed and now the date of treatment as we submitted the date of the claim rather than treatment. They would have flipped this delaying tactic had we submitted the other way round. They have had a full medical history from our vets multiple times. If you are considering using this company do your homework properly and look at the financial losses the company is making and read the 1 star review. Don’t get swayed by access to a vet 24/7. It is a great feature but you will need to see a vet in person one if your pet is really poorly and you can’t rely on Many Pets to cover your pets bills. When we explained we didn’t have money to cover the credit card bill - we were marked as vulnerable it has made not a jot of difference. I genuinely feel that the insurance cover we have is not worth anything- that makes me feel sick that my pet has effectively not been insured and is not currently insured. We have had a complaint pending for weeks and nobody has yet reached out despite us being identified as vulnerable customers. Reviewed on: 5th June 2025

THEY HAVE NO FUNDS TO PAY FOR CLAIMS

1
This review is based on my experience with Manypets being unable to pay my claim in the region of £3,000 approximately 4 months since submission. They have not contested or disputed the claim, so based on the information below, it appears that THEY HAVE NO FUNDS TO PAY FOR CLAIMS and they are probably waiting to collect cash from premiums so that they can pay claims. I am currently in a Formal Complaint process, yet Manypets appears to be under severe financial pressure and overall financial difficulties, as initially reported by the Insurance Post (postonline.co.uk) in a 2023 extract: "Things are looking fairly bleak in the UK as well for the insurer, as its loss ratios appear to be a sore subject. For the year ending 31 March 2022, Many Pets' loss before tax stood at £31.9m, compared with a loss of £22.3m in 2021." Furthermore, Manypets' latest Report & Accounts in the Companies House indicate matters have severely deteriorated further in 2023, with a larger LOSS of approximately £43 MILLION and NEGATIVE EQUITY of approximately £26 MILLION. I suspect they may become INSOLVENT relatively soon, unless the situation changes drastically. Finally, they do NOT pay vets directly - please ignore what their website says - and, based on other reviews, most vet practices will not deal with them due to non-payment. As a matter of fact, they do NOT pay anyone at all (customers or vets) according to my experience. If you buy a policy from Manypets, do NOT expect them to pay your claims unless you file a formal complaint (8 WEEKS), followed by the Financial Ombudsman (3 MONTHS), and then possibly followed by a court process (3-6 MONTHS), assuming they have not gone BUST in the meantime.....
