YOUNG DRIVERS WATCH OUT.. AVOID MORE THAN CAR INSURANCE AT ALL COSTS I received an email from More Than stating that i was driving at 100mph on 26/9/17 at 9:02 am I proceeded to call them and explained to them that this was not possible for many reasons, yet I am still being told that even thought the problem could be a fault with my box.. my insurance will be cancelled and I will lose the amount of money I paid for my policy. This is ridiculous! I have since found out that this is something More Than is known for doing to young drivers like me.. an easy way to take our money and SCAM us out of our car insurance. We are easy targets, as we are young and will not put up a fight as we do not have the experience.. However I will not let this go without defending myself and proving that More Than are simply taking advantage of me and many others like me. I am 19 and just started driving. I thought More Than Smart Wheels seemed a reasonable price (although every company was a similar price) and I didn't mind the idea of a black box, as I know I drive responsibly - if I didn't I wouldn't have passed the practical test and pass plus. Now just to clarify, when i say 'reasonable price' I do not mean a few hundred pounds.. We are talking over £2000.. just for car insurance alone! At my age working as an apprentice this is a hell of a lot of money and something i have saved up for for a long time. I would not risk throwing it all away just to speed knowing full well I have a black box and WILL be caught, all within a month of purchasing my insurance - yet this is what I am being accused of. There are several instances where More Than have given me an incorrect score on the app, for example once when i was driving down the road to the shop, they minused 3 points from me for speeding when I definitely was not speeding. The main incident is them accusing me of driving at 100mph down the M60 at 9am. Now lets break this down and explain why this is not only UNTRUE, yet IMPOSSIBLE: - At 9 am I was currently at work and my car was stationary in the car park. I have managers and work colleagues that can collaborate this - Between 7am and 9am the M60 is practically gridlocked.. It is extremely difficult to even do 20mph on most days let alone anywhere near 70-100mph! - There are average speed cameras and the limit is 50mph - if i was speeding at 100mph surely a camera must have caught me. They are average speed cameras after all I was given no prior warnings and have been an excellent driver since i got my insurance. I have had this insurance for less than a month and as i mentioned earlier would not drive so recklessly and risk jeopardizing it. It used to take me hours to travel to work by bus and so this is something i appreciate very much. I spent over 1 hour on the phone already and was simply put down and accused again and again of something that is nothing more than an error on YOUR SYSTEM. If you have faulty machines why are you not solving that problem instead of blaming innocent drivers? Or is this just a scam and now MORE THAN you have been caught??? AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

1
First year with them as I’m currently 6 months into this insurance company, they are a scam I got my insurance with them and put 5000 miles which I thought was the lowest amount, for the lady on the phone to not tell me the min and max which states they should, used 2000 miles in 3 months as a first time driver you want to go explore and drive to places You’ve never been to before my insurance cost £72 a month which I could afford in my last job, then I added 2000 miles on to get to 7000 as they estimated I needed which I didn’t realise I didn’t so that was £200 odd pound upfront with a admin fee of £25 which took my direct debit upto £84 which was still a reasonable price, then enquired about business insurance And 3000 miles added on top and also enquired about changing my occupation to care assistant to then be told a quote of just under £1000 upfront with admin fees so of course I didn’t go for that job and told her to leave it , then month later my insurance went up to £97 to be told on the phone she added everything on and we was charged as I explained I was enquiring to be refunded £15 which was a joke really, then enquired about changing my address to a few miles down the road to be quoted £275 with a admin fee of £25 and my insurance to go up to £157 a month as apparently it’s a bad area compared to the one I’m living now even though it’s roughly the same area, then enquired about adding mileage once more as I’ve only got around 2400 left to last me till February 2021 and got qouted £387 upfront and a £25 admin fee for my insurance to go up to £173 something, I would not recommend at all even if you do 1mph over the speed limit you get a bad score your constantly checking your speedometer and if you go slow you get a bad score too, it’s a absolute joke suppose to be for affordable for young people and they just scan money out of you, even when I stayed at my partners house during lockdown due to working with the public in retail I didn’t wanna pass anything on to my parents I was staying there for roughly 3/4 months to prevent the spread , they only just informed me last week that they would cancel my insurance for the over night parking No communication just a text no email to say about a accident that I’d had which wasn’t my fault due to someone running up the back off me and I didn’t claim as not much damage they didn’t once get in touch with the 3rd party to see if they was claiming had to ring that persons insurance up myself to have the open claim took off had to call more than up my self to see what was going on still can’t get a temporary insurance on my parents car like I normally do to save my mileage when going long distance absolute joke , DO NOT RECOMMEND PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! MONEY GRABBERS!!! Reviewed on: 25th August 2020

SCAM!!!! AVOID

1
This company is a scam, tried to charge nearly £400 for change of address and then also increased the purchase of extra miles to over £2000, how are youngsters expected to afford these extortionate prices especially during COVID, We now have a vehicle parked up and can no longer drive due to the above given quotes, absolutely disgusting Reviewed on: 25th August 2020

Scam artists in the extreme!

1
They charge £51 just to update your address, even if you move a few doors away. £25 for the admin fee and £26 for the address change itself. Insurance companies should be illegal. The fact we have to pay these crooks money is diabolical, but More Than even more so. They're the worst of the worst! If you need insurance, go with the Farmers Union. At least, there, the money spent is ethically used, and anyone can use them. Reviewed on: 20th August 2020

ANNUAL RIPOFF

Every year MORE THAN put up my quote. I check the price comparison sites and tell them the competitive price. They then reduce their quote! Reviewed on: 14th July 2020

Horrendous Company

Had a telematics policy with them for 1 year, during which time i had one accident that was judged to be non-fault and was entirely settled by the 3rd party. I was re-assured that my no claims discount would be unaffected and yet upon cancellation i was sent a document stating that i had 0 years NCD with them. I was also lied to about a renewal quote, the customer service rep i spoke to was insistent that one had been sent to my email address but i received no such thing - they then went ahead and renewed the policy anyway. Finally, after cancellation of the policy i logged in to the dashboard and found that the black box was still recording journeys after the cancellation date of the policy! I would advise anybody thinking of taking out a policy with More Than to stay well clear. Reviewed on: 21st June 2020

Do not use black box

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL BLACK BOX I have not once sped anywhere in my car as I would never like to be in risk of a speeding ticket or not drive safely, I am constantly given -10 point every single day for no reason, very unhappy as this black box does not calculate properly at all Reviewed on: 6th June 2020

An insurance company that makes up their Terms and Conditions as they go along

1
I would strongly urge anyone considering taking out a vehicle insurance policy with More Than / RSA to go elsewhere. I was a named driver on a company policy where the limited company was the owner, registered keeper and policyholder. The vehicle was stolen from the company's registered business address overnight, and all I did , was report the theft on behalf of the limited company. Everything appeared fine until I tried to renew my personal insurance, where I found that RSA had put me on the CUE check list as the "driver" of the limited company vehicle, and that I had an "at fault" claim. On complaining to RSA, they said that the last driver should have been asked for, and that on theft they log the last driver as the named driver responsible. I clearly explained that the last driver was unknown, had not been asked for, and there was no legal text anywhere in the Terms and Conditions to state the last driver would be held responsible on theft. I escalated my complaint with RSA, and even involved the CEO, Mr Stephen Hester, but their final response denied my complaint, stating that it "appeared" I was the last person in charge of the company vehicle, and that policy wording would not specifically state the last driver will be logged as the named driver on theft. They then go on to state the personal information posted about me on the CUE system is factually correct. My understanding of contract law is everything must be in the Terms and Conditions at the inception of business, not something that can be altered or made up by one party as the contract goes along to suit their ends. When the last driver or driver in charge is not specifically given or asked for, and although RSA may want it to "appear" that they have determined who that individual may have been to suit their "procedures", it most certainly cannot be deemed to be "factual". RSA have effectively made two entities financially responsible for one incident, which only the policyholder should be held liable for. The ramifications of this are horrendous for every last driver / in charge individual of a vehicle insured by RSA on theft, where the vehicle is owned, registered and the policyholder is another person or company. I will be checking every vehicle I drive in the future that it is not insured by RSA, and will never do business of any kind with them again, as their "procedures" are created to cause as much financial damage as possible to their customers. My complaint is now with the Financial Ombudsman. Reviewed on: 30th May 2020
