Absolute chaos

My shed was burnt down. Simple enough claim you'd think? I've dealt with five different companies. No replies to emails. Offered vouchers which they never sent. About 20 different email addresses. Fire was middle of April. Still waiting. Will be cancelling policy. Reviewed on: 13th July 2022

£500 of my money not being refunded

I don’t think I’ve ever written a review in my life, but my experience with more than has been so bad, I’ve had to. I took out insurance early in 2022, which was then cancelled a few months later with no correspondence. I called and asked why my policy has been cancelled and I was told I didn’t provide the documentation they requested by email and post. I didn’t receive any letters or emails. I then got an email after my policy cancellation saying I was owed a refund, just over £500 as I paid annually. I have called 7 or 8 times and had to tell the same story every time as I have not received the money. The staff leave me on hold for ages and try to suggest solutions that already haven’t worked. I have contacted my bank and they haven’t received any payment and yet more than still refuse to send me the money. I have been assured I will get called back multiple times by staff, the person that assured me was Carmen. Needless to say I haven’t been called. Still unresolved and my £500 is still being kept from me. Avoid at all costs Reviewed on: 1st June 2022

If you want a simple insurance claim settled with a great deal of hassle, having to make constant phone calls for information and start dates, long waits for action, and general disregard for the claimant then More Than is the company for you. Reviewed on: 26th May 2022

Fraud insurance and home emergency

It should be negative star not even 0. Home emergency service after validating says will take 4hr then gets text in hr saying will take 9-24hr for someone to come for a hot water tank leaking in the loft, damaging roof and electricals (even though stopped fresh water) calling again after spending time explaining it said will cancel next day booking and will find someone tonight. Again waiting few hour no update so called back they said cannt get anyone only next day 9-24hr window is open, told them house is becoming unsafe when water is already off, cannt stay with family they said will arrange hotel stay, will book and will call me back. Waited 30 min no call so called again back and said sorry we cannt book anything for night when I can find hundreds of hotels nearby with availability in bookings.com or hotels.com. Stupid excuse saying the booking partner cannt find anything. Every time lied and don’t even care to callback with update or say sorry, for searching emergency plumber they all did was dropped an email to some vendor and kept waiting. This isn’t an emergency service and insurance is fraud! Stay away from the fraud company! It’s all to do with cost of emergency as plumber charge less in business hours rather night rates! More than let us down and left us with a dangerous chimney could of killed somebody

More Than are a complete disgrace they tell lies just to fob you off, we were told to take a day off work for BVS surveyor to come around he never turned up, was told it would be 5 weeks before any one could inspect, and it takes 8 weeks to make complaint, I got a trades man around to inspect and quote, he confirmed it was dangerous so complained on twitter and all of a sudden BVS were now available, so he came around but was unable to do his job, as not aloud on roof even though it was clear the claim was roof and chimney damage, what a joke he was, so got an independent Surveyor to take a look, he also confirmed the chimney was dangerous, so had no choice but to get the work done pay for it myself and wait 8 weeks to complain, I could not take the chance the chimney would not collapse and do lots of damage, or even worse kill somebody Reviewed on: 9th March 2022

Home Insurance that doesn't insure anything and customer service to match

I am really not sure where to start really. Everything was fine with More Than until I had a bath room leak and tried to actually use the insurance. Primary issue being two fold, 1. Emergency cover doesnt cover emergencies, 2. Claims are handled by third party loss adjusters who simply dont care. 1st issue being I woke up faced with a flood occuring into my kitchen from my bathroom. I call the More Than emergency line (goes through to a third party provider). How long do you wait before you give up while watching your house flood? Needless to say an hour and a half later and I gave up to call a plumber who was out and flood fixed in under 30 mins. The issue is I asked for my £300 call out fee back seeing as I was let down by them for a product I had paid for and tried to save them money in averting more damage. I was told by a call centre jobs worth that they understood the problem and would get it sorted. Month and a half later, both More Than and the third party emergency cover provider refuse to pay my call out cost because I didnt call them first and wasnt approved by them even though for all intents and purposes I couldn't. I will admit that the morning I was trying to call was also the morning after a big storm so I appreciate they where busy. That would have been fine if I was reimbursed but I was told that was not going to happen. 2nd. Building Validation Services (BVS) are the survey/loss adjusters my claim was given to to handle. Long and the short of it is they are just that. Over a month later and I still havent been paid out because they are still trying yo argue what damage they are and aren't liable for. The surveyor was rude and unprofessional and most importantly missed half of the problems. They wont admit they are wrong but the statement of work has changed twice now to include all the hits they missed or tried to get away with not fixing the first time. Please please be aware with these people, I cant be 100% sure if its just their business strategy, fraud or incompetence but if you take their first offer it will be much less than the actual damage! The really funny bit, BVS continue to phone me and leave voucemails even though I have told them 3 times I am deaf and cant talk to them on the phone even if I wanted to! So all in all my experience with More Than has been Less Than satisfactory. Will make all effort now to avoid any company underwritten by the RSA Group seeing as they all seem to have the same customer service. Reviewed on: 15th January 2022
