Firstly I didn’t expect to have a conversation about my savings on the day I went into the Newbury but was pleasantly surprised when I was offered an appointment. The advisor was very informative and covered everything I needed to know to make an informed decision about my savings. The advice was given in a clear concise manner. Good old fashioned service

I like non internet branch based financial services. Newbury building society felt more personable than Nationwide building society on initial enquiry. Was able to book a appointment for the time slot i needed . Quite a lot of form filling to do to join but done in 35 minutes. Passbook for 'welcome to Newbury building society' account arrived quickly. The passbook for the ISA transfer account will take longer. I have been advised, as my previous provider will drag their feet. Reviewed on: 8th September 2023

Efficient and easy

Easy to open senior account - although there was a delay due to my wife having to provide identity, but otherwise very good. Good comms. Getting online was easy and security was thorough but simple to achieve. Reviewed on: 8th September 2023

Easier than expected

It was straightforward to open new accounts having made an appointment to do so. However, the experience would have been vastly improved if the branch (Wokingham) had some form of air conditioning. On a hot afternoon it was stifling. Reviewed on: 8th September 2023

Had to ring 3 times!

I have an Existing Member Account and wanted to open a joint account with my wife. I filled in the relevant information online and waited to hear from Newbury. Not hearing anything, I looked at my accounts online and saw that the new account was there. I paid over some money and found it came back the next day. I tried this twice with the same results. I decided to phone and after waiting for 20 minutes spoke to an advisor who informed me that the account wasn't open yet and we should have got a letter. He promised to send another letter immediately but that didn't come and I rang again twice to get the letter sent. No letters arrived until during our holiday 6 days later. On opening the 2 letters that did arrive I found that they hadn't been sent when I was told they should have been. I very nearly gave up but because I didn't want to loose any further interest on my savings eventually opened the account. The delay and time I wasted is not acceptable. Brilliant service

I went in twice to sort out my accounts, to add to an existing one and to open a new one. The woman who sorted it all out (unfortunately I don’t know her name, maybe name badges would be useful), was helpful, explained everything, suggested I use an existing account that I didn’t think could still be used.
