Safe but worth it as interest rates rise? Used to be a dead cert for somewhere to keep money safe when savings interest rates were next to %zero. Now savings rates are returning a sum of sorts... Read more Reviewed on: 27th February 2025

40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 3 months won nothing. Much better off in shares or high interest savings account. Reviewed on: 6th March 2025

Appalling and incompetent company

How I wish I’d read the reviews before opening an account The most incompetent and appalling service I’ve ever received in over 50 years of saving If you want to be severely stressed then by all means open an account!!! Reviewed on: 27th October 2020

Stuck on loop.

I tried to register with the online NSandI.com in June. 1. Told to fill in and post a form. 2. Got letter giving me an online number. 3. Got another letter giving me a temporary password. 4. Logged on with the online number and password. 5. Told to ring 08085007007. 6. Got letter giving me an online number. 7. Got another letter giving me a temporary password. 8. Logged on with the online number and password. 9. Told to ring 08085007007. 10. Got letter giving me an online number. 11. Got another letter giving me a temporary password. 12. Logged on with the online number and password. 13. Told to ring 08085007007. 14. Got letter giving me an online number. 15. Got another letter giving me a temporary password. 16. Logged on with the online number and password. 17. Told to ring 08085007007. It's October and I still do not have an online account. I can see my premium bonds prizes using my holder number on website. Apparently we will not get cheques in the post next year. How can they put prize money into my bank account next year? Non serious staff poor website

Few wins

My Wife and myself have £88,000 invested in Premium Bonds and usually get a few £25 wins a month if lucky, then nothing for months, In the last 4 years have only had one large win of £500. Makes you wonder if it's worth it or even fixed by location! Reviewed on: 2nd October 2020

Tempted to say that this is a scam, not worth it

Bought NSI bonds in 1965. No wins and bonds remain nominal value. Each Bond is valued @ £1.00 therefore if I had £1 in 1965 it would be valued at £16.00 today (2020) I would be better off just keeping that pound in my pocket. NSI Bonds are not good financial instrument and should not be used as such. I think this is a scam as, there is a very high chance you will never see a return and end up with less value than when you started. As proven with my experience. Do not buy NSI bonds, stand more chance in winning a small amount on the lottery. Reviewed on: 2nd September 2020

£8000 stolen by NS&I

£8000 of premium Bonds redeemed But no money received ? 3 months of no response other than we will "flag it up" No money recieved . Legal action only option . Can't believe this is allowed to happen by a billion pound company . No customer understanding and certainly no action to respond . Where is my Money ? Reviewed on: 8th August 2020

A slim chance...

Considering the pathetic interest rates offered on most savings accounts, Premium Bonds offer the chance of winning a big prize, even if the odds are statistically improbable. Reviewed on: 6th June 2020

They don't make it easy!

NS&I clearly have a deliberate policy of making it as hard as possible for investors to access their investments, as no organisation could possibly be universally staffed by complete morons! Another outstanding example of the improvement in service resulting from privatisation and outsourcing. This should be a national scandal! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! You have been warned.
