40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 3 months won nothing. Much better off in shares or high interest savings account. Reviewed on: 6th March 2025

still hoping

easy enough to buy although you have to hold them for a full month before they go in the draw. Its a bit of fun rather than a proper investment but the money is safe and theres always a chance of a big win Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

live in hope

Not a great return

I have invested a reasonable amount in premium bonds among other products but this is has to have the worst return,I have only won 3 prizes in 18 months. Reviewed on: 31st August 2015

stand a chance of a big win

A little return with a bit of fun

Having held premium bonds for a number of years my return is around 1-1.5% per year on my holding.I enjoy getting the cheques for £25 and the hope i may win a better prize but there are certainly better deals around if you want better rates, but for most the thrill is worth the small loss in interest. fun , but don't expect a win too often

A chance of a huge win without losing your investment.

Premium Bonds are perhaps the most fun investment product the government can provide. Your money is backed up with government protection and there are numerous chances to win a month. I regularly win £25 a month. The average interest rate is never going to top the best buy tables but it is a solid investment with the chance of a £1 million prize each month.
