Premium Bonds are worth holding, I think.... Returns on Premium Bonds are generally average, with the slim chance of above average winnings each month. Winnings are not taxable which is a bonus. Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 40k in premium bonds for 5 months and only won £175. 3 months won nothing. Much better off in shares or high interest savings account. Reviewed on: 6th March 2025

Simple process and good return.

Simple process and good return. A safe option for saving your money with a higher than average prize return Reviewed on: 11th October 2024

A slim chance...

Considering the pathetic interest rates offered on most savings accounts, Premium Bonds offer the chance of winning a big prize, even if the odds are statistically improbable. Reviewed on: 6th June 2020

They don't make it easy!

NS&I clearly have a deliberate policy of making it as hard as possible for investors to access their investments, as no organisation could possibly be universally staffed by complete morons! Another outstanding example of the improvement in service resulting from privatisation and outsourcing. This should be a national scandal! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! You have been warned. old n outdated

Antiquated procedures & unhelpful staff Antiquated postal procedures and unhelpful staff make accessing your money and accounts virtually impossible. Also the products at NS&I are getting worse as they reduce interest rates and cut down on prizes. Reviewed on: 11th May 2020

no wins. Had £3000 invested for almost 10 years and have never had a win. Going to put my money else where. Reviewed on: 15th April 2020

Better than a savings account

Easy to use online and earn ore than I would get from interest on a savings account. I don't have the maximum amount in my account, but usually win something every month. Reviewed on: 5th February 2020

Fast enough to take my money but refunding it now that's another matter even after providing ID. Reviewed on: 5th December 2019

Worst service I've ever received from a bank

1
Terrible service, keep locking my account for no clear reason. Repeatedly give useless advice, and everything requires posting them a letter and waiting 2 weeks to get anything sorted. Absolutely awful Reviewed on: 4th December 2019

A Great Investment!!

Should you buy premium bonds? The answer is YES! Online buying is simple and secure. The advice I am giving should maximise your chances of winning a prize (£25 minimum) Consider buying in a lump sum, say between £1000 and £10000. For example having a £3000 investment could mean 2 £25 wins a year if you are lucky. That equates to 1.66% interest and of course you can reinvest your prises and NS&I will add 2 £25 bond numbers to your account...easy. With average luck on a £10000 investment you should have 4 £25 wins each year. And of course you have a slight chance of winning a higher jackpot amount but if not and with interest at nearly zero then it is a good secure place to leave your money which you can cash in and receive within 10 days if you want too. It does not give you an income but you can expect to win about £500 to £700 each year if you hold the maximum number of bonds allowed. Best of luck!!! Reviewed on: 12th September 2019
