A totally incompetent outfit

Tried making a car insurance claim - it was so painful and chat with their BOT as they don’t have a phone line to talk properly on the phone, or if they do, it’ll drive you towards their chat BOT and you’ll end up wasting hours and hours trying to get any sense out of One Call Insurance, AVOID . Be VERY Careful - Took Ombudsman to Resolve

I insured my family car (fully comp) through One Call Insurance as they appeared competitive. I was involved in a collision and given a settlement value for write off which was agreed but days later cut by approx two thirds as they’d made an error. I disputed this and then my insurance was declared void, effectively making me uninsured and liable. They cited a 'modification' which was in fact a straight swap, consumable service part. Staff would not listen and directors ignored my letters. From the Ombudsman's Final Decision; 'One Insurance originally explained that any part fitted to a car that was not a factory fitted part constituted a modification ... if this were correct, most cars wouldn’t be insured given the routine changes numerous car parts go through during a car’s lifetime of MOT’s, services and repairs as well as tyres changes – many with non-factory fitted parts' The real test of any company is when you are in a fix and need their help. In my experience this company appeared to take gleeful pleasure in throwing me to the wolves as though I'd been uninsured when they were challenged. This was a terrifying experience for 18 months and potentially left me exposed to many thousands of pounds of expense. Be very careful who you insure with and look for reviews from people who can say more than, “they were all very lovely when they took my premium”. They wanted more money.

Got a quote on line for £324. I paid and then they said there was a mistake, even though all the details were correct, and wanted another £100. I cancelled but had to wait 5 days for a refund. Reviewed on: 18th June 2023

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

They did not accept my No Claim Bonus even it has accepted another companies due to they want to charge extra £350 ...They advised to cancel my policy but they charged me extra £44 for only 3 days used the vehicle even they sent me message to not use vehicle in this period...But they charged me ..... Appalling customer service

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Appalling customer service. Serious staffing issues making it extremely difficult to communicate with them. Phone queue goes on forever, ditto online chat. They have no email contact. I have spent days trying to cancel an scheduled renewal on my car insurance to stop them withdrawing in excess of £500 from my account. It has proved very difficult. Claim ref M91100069143 spurious claim left on database

Their client made spurious claim against my vehicle hundreds of mile from my home quoting a driver as "Bob " yep, just Bob. Even though they haven't taken the claim further 4 1/2 months later they have left it pending on the insurance database, doubling my insurance. They haven't responded to my insurance company , perhaps they'll respond to this. Reviewed on: 24th May 2023

Bad customer service and rising cost without sensible reasons

Originaly I insured my motorcycle for about £70/year. This year I got renewal price £91/year which I wound out only after they took it from my bank account. I was quite alright with that but I'm moving so I used the chat (only way how to get in touch without making a claim). I wantech to change address on the renewed policy (£91). I spent 30 min queue and an hour on the actual chat to change the address and to add thet my motorcycle will be kept in locked private garage instead of on the street. Surprise was that moving into safer are and keeping the bike in garage made the renewal cost £100. Funny enough I put the same details in new insurance with One Call and they offered insurance for £85. Reviewed on: 11th May 2023

Avoid like the plague

Where to start? Non-existent customer service, even in a home insurance emergency they will not answer and just hang up the call If you try to cancel they will charge extortionate fees I am sure they make good money so its unclear why they offer such a shoddy, scammy service but there you go; please avoid and pay a bit extra if you have to and get proper insurance from a legit company- there are a lot of fake positive reviews so please be careful Reviewed on: 5th May 2023
