Great idea but needs more work.

I have problems with spending due to a psychiatric condition and so this enables me to live independently whilst my family deposits money into my Pockit account. The card has been accepted everywhere I have been and it is contactless. The app is good apart from the half an hour lag in updates (you have to rely on the email when money is deposited). The major issue is how long it takes for money that has been transferred to your account to actually show up there. All deposits made go to the big Pockit 'pot' and a team then manually sorts through the payments based on the customer reference number attached to each one. As expected this can take a while, and over the weekend you are generally screwed. I understand people don't use this as their only account but since I do this is a major issue for me if my family forgets that deposits need to be made in advance. The other problem is that you cannot electronically transfer money to another account except to another Pockit account; so paying my share of bills to my boyfriend is difficult since it costs 99p to withdraw cash so you end up with that annoying situation where you can't withdraw a tenner because you have £9.01 in your account... But you can set up direct debits and things, I pay for Spotify Premium using mine. The card is free and I understand that it is a new slightly experimental branch of whichever affiliated bank, where they are working to improve it all the time. I would recommend this to others because it definitely works as long as you are aware of and plan around Pockit's weak spots. Reviewed on: 18th October 2016

Good but Bad

Customer service is brilliant. Very helpful call centre. Downside is that you spend a lot of time chasing up money that should have been paid into your account. Benefits are a lot of hassle to get paid in, even after sending in all your details of benefit and it being linked to your account , you still have to ring and chase up the money to be able to use it. My worry has always been losing my debit card as I can be a bit careless at times and I spend what money I have. Pockit gives me and my mum peace of mind and helps me budget my money. Excellent, easy and quick

All I needed was a cash card with no monthly charges, and I was directed to Pockit. To my surprise, I recieved a £5 addition to my account with a £10 deposit and having a card in my wallet as a reserve proved really handy when I needed fuel and no other funds available. The card is easy to use and is contactless, and the iPhone app is so easy to use too. My experience has been excellent and a massive positive.
