Review of the Prudential, Pension:

DO NOT INVEST YOUR MONEY IN PRUDENTIAL

Well where do I begin! Like the previous writer if I could give less than 1 star I would! Iv'e held a private pension policy with the Pru since 1985 and I wanted to cash it in 4 yrs ago. Im now 69 and I could have cashed it when I was 55 but chose to keep paying into it. If I'd have known then what I would have to go through to access my own funds I would have never invested with these guys in the first place. My father swore by the Pru but he would be turning in his grave at the treatment I have endured over the last 4 years. Started trying to access my funds in 2021. I must add that I'm now living in Australia. I spent hours and hours on the phone with various staff being passed down a long line of people who "couldn't deal with my situation" (not sure what they're being payed to do here) only to be cut off after a 2hr plus phone call with no results. This happened on numerous occasions to the point where I really didn't want to have any dealings with them, so I decided instead of drawing an annuity which would have tied me to them, I would withdraw my entire funds and put them in an Australian superfund. This caused even more hassle for me, as I was told I personally couldn't access my full fund and would have to employ a financial advisor to do so. After many official complaints from myself and my financial advisor on my behalf and almost 4 years later I finally have my funds over in Australia and out of Prudentials hands. I cannot begin to describe the worry, stress & anxiety plus financial burden this company has caused me. No pensioner should have to go through this amount of stress at this time in life. I'm convinced that they hope that you will just give up trying to access your money. They are absolutely appalling as a company for investing your money in and my advice is to never ever consider using Prudential UK if you value your savings. Beyond Dire!

This so called company have had my OH money for years. Now trying to get his Pension. I cannot stress enough how dreadful this company are. There is no customer service. Promised call back from claims department in 48 hours (why?). Called at 7.30 in the morning whilst driving with work partner in the van. When told couldn’t discuss at that moment phone when dead on a withheld number. Online chat just as bad, cut off. Held for an hour for claims department, no answer. Reviewed on: 29th June 2023

Terrible!

My pension pot is invested in a very opaque product, the terms and conditions of which I find completely baffling. Customer service has been just appalling. Regularly have to chase for responses to queries raised on the online messaging system. When responses are received I generally find them totally incomprehensible. Reviewed on: 5th May 2023

Good company

I have a advisor at the Pru so cannot comment on customer services, but I have had a pension with them since 1988 and have just started to draw on my pension and haven’t had a problem getting money out of them or asking them to put the amount up Reviewed on: 18th March 2023

Clear and transparent information

I make AVC payments into my local government pension scheme via Prudential and have found the service to be very good and all communications to be clear and straightforward Reviewed on: 9th March 2023

Workplace pension via Pru

The company I worked for set us all up on a workplace pension fund. They used Pru for several years and I left the company after 6 years. With approx 34k in the pension, when I left, I put my final salary etc into the pension to avoid a big tax hit. In the 3 years since I have left, it has actually hit a -2% value. Despite allegedly having the finest of minds actively looking after my investment. Their words. Which is swiftly followed by the "funds can go down as well as up when investing". Yet my personal investments, which I did with an online, zero hassle, minimum fee app (Nutmeg), Has shown a consistent 10% growth in the same timeframe. So those fine allegedly human minds at Pru, might want to borrow some pointers from Nutmegs Ai, that or quit robbing me with your stupidly high monthly fees and garbage customer support. I hit 55 this year and I will be taking the whole lot out of Prue the second I can. It will be more cost effective to take the tax hit and reinvest with a company that actually performs. Prudential - Is anyone there ???

I have been trying to contact prudential since 9/2/23 as i was assured money from my retirement policy would be transferred into my account as soon as i emailed ID, I also waited 13 days to receive the paper work to release money from my personal pension scheme. The monies have been taken out of both accounts on or before 1/3/23 i cannot get a response from Prudential either by email - we "hope" to deal with your query as quickly as possible (email sent every day since 3/3/23), Phone- 45 minutes then 65 minutes the last two days, also today 55 minutes on the live chat an agent introduced herself and stated chats could be used for training purposes and NOTHING but a message stating the agent is typing obviously not true or not typing to me. I'm seriously disappointed in their performance as i was assured it was straight forward and MY money would be with me within days. Reviewed on: 7th March 2023

Impossible to draw your pension down.

No such thing as customer service. Impossible to get to speak to anyone to claim my pension. Everything is so long winded and can never get to speak to the right department. 37 mins on hold so far this time Reviewed on: 24th February 2023

A total shambles of a company Do Not Use

This is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Call waiting times, terrible, Customer service, shocking. I've been try to get some of my pension fund from this company for over three months, numerous telephone conversation, numerous posts to there online service. If you wish to put your hard earned cash with them so bit, but you have been warned. An absolute disgrace. Reviewed on: 16th February 2023

Without a doubt the worst company I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with

Absolutely archaic company. Insist on doing everything by post and wouldn't even let me open an online account. Deliberately making it as hard as possible for me to transfer away my pension so they can keep their greedy hands on MY money for as long as possible. Reviewed on: 16th February 2023

Hard work

I found prudential to be fantastic for pension growth over the last 40 years. I had a very nice pot from minimal investment. Unfortunately, when it came to taking my pension, the pension team were a disgrace to the company. They could not have been less interested in my requests for information if they tried. They seemed to be very disgruntled that I'd even called. I mentioned transferring my pension to another provider, and I was told I couldn't do that. I knew that was wrong so I used L&G to extract the money from the Pru, and within 2 weeks I have my L&G pension up and running, and it was a pleasure dealing with them. Sorry Pru, but you stuffed up right at the finish line. I suspect this is connected to being taken over by M&G Wealth a number of years back. Reviewed on: 3rd February 2023
