Avoid saga motor insurance

After a driver turned right into my car I think I've spent virtually everyday on the phone to saga , I had dashcam evidence which they told me to pass on to another company, called Claimsfast , then TOWERGATE wanted the dashcam footage I said claim fast had it they said Claimsfast wouldn't give it to them , then I was told Claimsfast didn't have the video anymore, I rang Claimsfast they said they did have the footage, you are just passed from pillar to post, still not sorted out , it's a lot of "who shot John " just not true. Run of the mill

Excellent service

I insured 2 cars with Saga and achieved brilliant value for money coupled with a low excess. I tried to insure my daughter's car as well but she is only 34 and they only insure those aged 50+ nevertheless I really liked dealing with them because there was no series of menus to go through and I was immediately connected to an advisor via an 0800 number. Very poor service

I still have an ongoing claim from nearly 2 years ago. After being shunted from behind, I ended up stranded at a motorway service station, on my own, spending nearly 6 hours on the phone trying to get something sorted. I kept getting passed from one department to another and each person told me something different. I didn't think it could get any worse, but it did. The whole claim has been an absolute shambles and still isn't sorted out. Never again. Reviewed on: 31st August 2017

I was with Privilege Car insurance for many years and felt very loyal to a extend never question their renewal premium ! My wife every year reminded me to shop around and I did for my last renewal. Reviewed 5 websites and Saga came across user friendly !!! Reviewed on: 15th August 2017

watch out £50 fee to end early

changed my car, saga wanted to double my insurance. In order to cancel the policy I got charged a £50 admin fee. (yes, it was in the print, but I consider that excessive and won't use them again). It was still cheaper to pay the fee and take out insurance with another company Reviewed on: 18th July 2017

Car accident

I recently had a car accident, I was turning right when a young driver overtook me and crashed into my car. I am now informed that I am 30% to blame. Apparently as you are turning right, as well and noticing oncoming traffic and the road you are turning into, you need to be looking into your rear view mirror. As a driver of almost 50 years experience and with no previous claims, i know that this is impossible to do. I have only been blessed with one pair of eyes. However, my insurance company knows better. So, if you are reading this, beware, when actually in the process of turning right you need to be looking in three different directions at once. Also, the other driver immediately admitted liability both to me and to my insurance company. Doesn't matter. I am still 30% at fault. Reviewed on: 15th July 2017
