Saga offer three levels of car insurance for over 50s – Saga Standard, Saga Select and Saga Plus.

All policies have an uninsured driver promise protecting your no claims discount and no excess to pay if you're hit by an uninsured driver. Depending on the policy, there are extras you can add on to the policy to provide more protection.

Card renewal - bad practice

2 male operatives didn't give the correct information and the female operative tried her best but her boss has not deemed my complaint important enough to get back to me. I received a letter from Saga stating my credit card had expired and to ring them with new details. On giving the details of my card, immediate payment for my car insurance was taken from my bank account.At no time was I told this would happen and no one would cancel the payment which was not due for 3 another 3weeks. I was told to cancel it through my bank .They told me the payment was ",pending "so it couldn't be done and to go back to Saga. This practice should be made clear in their letter or by the operative before taking my card details. It has caused me financial embarrassment and disappointment as well 2hrs on the phone trying to deal with this..I will not be renewing my insurance with Saga next year for sure Reviewed on: 25th April 2023

Always efficient when renewing and advising of last years premium so a choice is easier to make. Very polite on the phone and very quick at processing any queries. I stay with them because every year their quote is competitive and mostly cheaper than other insurance companies. Reviewed on: 14th August 2025

Car change seemed easy.

Earlier this year I obtained 15 year Mercedes and, as I already had a 20 year old Volvo, I decided to keep the Mercedes and sell the Volvo. Advertising and selling the Volvo took several months, so during that time, I asked SAGA to insure the Mercedes for one year and to continue to insure the Volvo. This was done promptly and smoothly by SAGA and, when, after a couple months, the Volvo was sold, Saga again acted promptly and I received a refund for the remaining months of the year's premium.
