Card renewal - bad practice

2 male operatives didn't give the correct information and the female operative tried her best but her boss has not deemed my complaint important enough to get back to me. I received a letter from Saga stating my credit card had expired and to ring them with new details. On giving the details of my card, immediate payment for my car insurance was taken from my bank account.At no time was I told this would happen and no one would cancel the payment which was not due for 3 another 3weeks. I was told to cancel it through my bank .They told me the payment was ",pending "so it couldn't be done and to go back to Saga. This practice should be made clear in their letter or by the operative before taking my card details. It has caused me financial embarrassment and disappointment as well 2hrs on the phone trying to deal with this..I will not be renewing my insurance with Saga next year for sure Reviewed on: 25th April 2023

Saga is there when you need that human touch

As an older citizen although I have previously done many online only car insurances, but because of a recent cardiac arrest my husband had and he was the insured I needed to speak to someone to whom I could explain the situation and tell me my options. This, to me, was a great benefit as I was not thinking clearly at the time. I can do things online or call for help if I need it and your customer service representatives are so willing to explain things and make you feel valued and not just another sale. Slightly more expensive but worth it

Insurance quotes seem slightly more expensive than other companies but the products and services far outweigh the costs especially when you have a new car . Also the fact that the quoted price is fixed for 3years is great too knowing that the price will not go up Reviewed on: 14th August 2025
