Awful and unprofessional

Zero stars is still too many for this rip off company! Wanted to buy a car, apparently one to two days and the finance is through but not if you are a foreigner and doesn't matter if you have a mortgage and a settled status as well as send in four utility bills and council tax, bank statements, your driving licence and your passport, it is still not enough proof that you live at the adress you gave them! Just wow! Over a week in and they kept asking EVERY DAY for the same stuff over and over again! Then finally apparently all has gone through to just get the question to send in ALL THE STUFF THEY ALREADY HAVE AGAIN!? What is wrong with this bank!? I had my finance in place but no the car has to be with santander! Ridiculous!! My friend is also at the moment trying to get her mortgage through them UNFORTUNATELY and exactly the same problems, earning double than most people! What is your problem with foreigners? Don't you think we earned our way to where we are? Do you think it feels great to always have to proof 150 percent more than anyone else? Ridiculous and absolutely not professional! Now with a hard search on my credit but no car and having it even harder to get another car I am more than fuming and will tell literally everyone (university is full of foreigners) to stay away from this bank! Misleading policy

I bought Santander Motor Insurance after getting a quote via Moneysupermarket.com Included in the quote was 10% cashback after 90 days. It is now over 90 days since I bought the policy and having made four mobile phone calls to Santander, I still haven't received my cashback. My advice is to avoid Santander Motor Insurance altogether and go for a proper Motor Insurance Company! Reviewed on: 3rd October 2019

Have been paying my car off monthly with santander for 2 years now, no problems, haven't missed any payments to be fair so assume it'd be a different story if I did, but yeah. Can repay off early if I want with no penalty. Reviewed on: 6th May 2018

NEVER AGAIN!!! Waste of money and time!!

I have had car insurance with LV previously and had to claim as someone bumped me and it was no issue. However, this year someone attempted to break into my car. Unluckily didn't succeed but left a mess after. I called Santander and got a crime reference and started the ball rolling. But apparently I don't phone them I phone Covea! Who the hell Covea are I will never know! So I phone Covea and tell them all about it and then nothing. My car is drivable so thought I'll give them a week and contact them. So I contact them a week later to be told need a photographer to come and check it out. No problem but it's a year old car with a warranty so I wanted it to go to my dealer. No problem we will get in touch with them and sort it. A fortnight later, nothing so I call back to hear they have no estimate so I call my dealer to be told we have sent it twice. So another week passes, by this point I'm spitting feathers! My car has been damaged since June 2017 and I'm now hitting september with no fixed car! I rang Santander and explained everything to be told they don't deal with it!! But I pay them and expect what I pay for?? Nope!!! So I have to still wait for Covea to pull their heads out!! And to top it off I have Guarenteed replacement and hire car cover (extra cost to me but have to work and have a 2 year old at nursery so necessary) but apparently that's through ANOTHER company who I have to contact because Covea will not cover my courtesy car as it's not their garage!! Please someone tell me if you've had a similar issue as I'm going crazy!!! I pay Santander but yet I have 2 other people I need to phone to sort my car when I pay my insurance every month, never faulted, willing to pay my £350 excess!! Because I'm 24 soon to be 25 on 28/09!! But yet I'm phoning everyone and not getting paid a dime! And they get £60 a month off me!!! Reviewed on: 28th August 2017

Terrible service

Impossible to get them to talk to my local garage despite being told it was possible. It would cost them more money to have the job done with a dealership so they said they couldn't contact them, despite this being the major dealership for the entire South east. As the accident was my neighbours fault, I had a option to use there insurers. They sent out a person to look at the car and have booked in for a repair with VW. No pain, no hassle, no constant phone calls only to be told they weren't able to talk to a person from the garage. Will never use again, will pay a bit more and go with the PRU. Good range of optional extras

Not an obvious choice for car insurance, but I find the range of extras that I can add to my policy to be really comprehensive. Thankfully I've not had to make a claim yet, so not sure how easy the process would be. Reviewed on: 4th March 2015
