Thorough, friendly support

Very good rate offered through broker (Landc) Completion of questions and provision of information was very detailed (eg copies of bank accounts etc) which was good but the requests came in phases - we would provide one lot and then more was asked for. The final outcome was very satisfactory and reassuring. The personal support provided and offered looks excellent (through Lisa Soutar). Reviewed on: 12th May 2023

Helpful staff but slow process

Firstly I'd like to say that the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful if I called up with a query or concern and the rates are very reasonable compared to other lenders so we are overall happy. Our only issue though was the insistence on doing everything by post in a time when it can be done electronically. This was heightened by there being a postal strike, however we received a lot of pressure from the seller as a result of how long it took, and this caused us a great deal of stress and sleepless nights as we were buying our first home in such a turbulent time for the market. In summary, great staff, reasonable rates but slow service. Reviewed on: 30th April 2023

Review of Scottish Building society

I found the process of obtaining a mortgage from Scottish Building Society rather difficult and over complicated. They were overly prescriptive requiring questions to be answered that I have never come across previously when applying for a mortgage from other v=building societies As a result, the process took far longer than was perhaps necessary as some of the required information was highly detailed and took a very long time to acquire.
