Great that they get their own space, with a debit card for withdrawing cash and making payments online, but all visible by me, and with good controls. They get their own app, so they can check the balance at any time. The only real drawback is the lack of functionally like direct debits, for example for paying a mobile phone bill. Also I have to manually pro-rate interest payments. Reviewed on: 13th March 2024

Brilliant banking for kids

We have two kite cards on our joint account for our daughters, which means both my husband and I can manage the 'spaces'. We have set up a pocket money standing order, but when the kids need to repay me for something it's easy to transfer back. They get a contactless payment card but can only spend what they have, and you can set either daily limits or maximum transaction amounts, although we haven't done this. They can have an app on their phone to check their balance (although for some reason this doesn't work on one of my daughter's phones). I love that I get a notification every time they spend money with the store name and amount, so I know exactly what they're up to. It works really well for us, can't fault it at all. One of my daughters went on a school trip to Spain and she could even use her card there, at the standard exchange rate. It's just a small monthly cost, no rip off hidden fees, feels like good value. Great for kids to learn about money

My son has had a kite card for the last year and he loves it. It gives him the responsibility to safely manage his money, allowing him to purchase items on his own. In a more digital world where cash is used less, kite card is a great tool to learn money management skills at a young age. Reviewed on: 8th April 2023

Helping Kids learn about money

Starling Bank's Kite card helps my two kids learn about money and manager their money. They felt very grown up when they got their Kite cards. I love that I can monitor their spending too! Reviewed on: 30th March 2023
