I wanted two daily accounts for my 9 and 12 year olds.

I wanted two daily accounts for my 9 and 12 year olds. They have some pocket money etc and this bank has been superb from start to finish. I opened an account to transfer money for their accounts (pocket money, birthday money etc) and the whole process was made really easy and straight forward. I now have my savings paid in to my Starling account rather than keep it with my high street bank (Lloyds) as Starling were better with interest rates and more accessible for the kids. I have recommended them to all my parent friends! I love their notification and ‘Spaces’ functions! Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

Fab Account.

The account is so easy to use and easy to transfer money too! It gives my daughter the freedom of accessing her own finances but I can also track her transactions at the same time to see where the pennies are going Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

Unpredictable

I have found the kite account unpredictable. Many times my daughter has been out with friends and her card has been declined it then says to enter PIN which she does -the transaction is still declined. The adult account never has this issue. We are now trying to upgrade to adult account but not enough information online to make this smooth transition. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024
Reply from Starling Bank Hi Heather, we're sorry to hear this. Please take a look here for where Kite cards are accepted - https://help.starlingbank.com/personal/topics/starling-kite/where-is-the-kite-card-accepted/. If your child is over 18 years old, they can have a standard current account, if they are aged 16-17 they are able to open a Teen account, otherwise they will only be eligible for the Kite card. You can't convert the Kite card into another account, and the account holder must make a new application themselves. If you have any further questions, please call us on 020 7930 4450. I have 2 kite cards for my 6 and 12 year old. The account was so easy to open and manage on the app. Free account and teaches kids about money management and gives them a sense of control over what they buy. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024

best non mainstream bank account going.

It was fast and simple to setup literally took a few hours at most from applying to getting the account. The cards arrived in a fancy envelope and within the time frame given. So easy to use abroad and in the U.K. my daughter’s kite space makes her feel in control of her money. Makes it easier for me to monitor her spending without impacting g her freedom. She gets to use it abroad and it’s totally free to use with no charges for purchasing abroad. Can’t fault it. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024
