Starling Bank is excellent!!

Revolutionised Pocket Money

Starling Kite has made such a difference to how my children view money. They previously had no concept and would spend any cash given to them. Now they can see their balance building up and are far more reluctant to spend on frivolous things. It also allows us to ask them to pay for things (which we reimburse) to build up confidence in shops and other places. The only thing I would like is the ability for grandparents etc to be able to transfer money directly into their “space” rather than into my account and then me manually moving it. I’m sure this will come in time, but overall I’m really pleased with the account. The monthly fee is relatively small but slightly irksome as a percentage of the money that they receive, but I understand the need for Starling to make money. Reviewed on: 5th February 2022

Very user friendly

It’s so easy to manage your children’s pocket money with the kite account. They can see their balance and learn to manage their own money, whilst the parent/guardian can keep control of things like spending limits, standing orders for weekly/fortnightly/monthly pocket money, birthday money etc. Reviewed on: 5th February 2022

Kite money card and app

The fact that I can set up two separate accounts with debit cards for my children is amazing. I have control on spending controls and it informs me when they use their cards. Much better value too than other debit card teaching apps for children , especially after the introduction of the child friendly app so they too can see their balance. Reviewed on: 5th February 2022

Change for better and greener

I recently closed my account with one of the biggest banks and moved to Starling. It was a very conscious decision: for a better future. It bothered me that I kept my funds at one of the banks investing in fossil fuels. Since moving to Starling, thanks to the bank’s app, I have a better outlook at my daily finances, I could provide my children with their own Kite cards and I’m not inundated by countless offers to get more credit or spend more. The Kite card is brilliant, as the account holder I’m not charged for every transfer to the card and still have control over my children’s spending. The only downside is that the Kite card can’t be connected to the Apple Pay. Reviewed on: 5th February 2022
