Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

A light at the end of the tunnel

When I first contacted Stepchange I was extremely worried about the credit card debt I owed, and I had been recently bereaved. The information I was given enabled me to choose the best way of recovering from a bleak situation. From despair to hope

The hardest part is asking for help .You feel as if you have let yourself down as well as everyone else . You feel as if nobody can help & you don't know who to turn to . When I was given the number for StepChange , it took a while to pluck up courage to dial the number. I expected to be judged , told I was a failure . But how wrong was I . It became clear in a few seconds that the person on the other end of the phone wanted to help . It was the best phone call I have ever made .
