Retaking control

You've come to the end of your tether, swamped by red letters and final notices. So phone StepChange - one of the best half hours of your life. They sort out what you spend on what, what you owe, what you can afford to pay back after allowances are made for the amount you need to live on. Then they sort out the repayments (through them) and companies listen to them whereas they wouldn't listen to you, because they have standing. And the best bit (apart from the relief of finally doing something positive about things) is that they're a charity and won't charge you a penny. Reviewed on: 23rd April 2017

So happy this exists

After my partner passed away, my spending habits increased. Getting credit cards and loans to buy others gifts and gambling. Fast forward 5 years and I was literally in more debt than I had ever been in my whole 50yrs. I decided enough was enough and that I needed to get a handle of this, I was miserable. I filled an online form in with debt and income details. They recommended a DMP. So I submitted and quickly got the ball rolling. Plus the money owed will be completely paid.
