Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Supportive and calm

Amazing supportive and calm agents that are positive and proactive. Concentrate on the solution not the problem. Did not make me feel embarrassed or ashamed for discussing my financial situation,void not feel at all patronised but empowered by their positivity. Suicide to a new life

I was suicidal about my debts I didn't know where to turn. I had sold off all my assets just to keep paying the interest . I had nothing left. I only wished I had found the courage to approach Stepchange 3 years earlier. But I am now debt free and had support for over 6 years of the wonderful non judgemental staff . The best at what they do .

Stepchange gave me courage , and the support and structure to face my debt and accept responsibility for it. At the same time , they engineered an affordable repayment programme that has allowed me to continue to work and support my family while repaying my debt schedule month by month . They are genius at what they do. Patient empathy but realistic support and infrastructure to be able to survive the catastrophic consequences of my bad financial decisions .
