Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

They do not judge, just help!

I'm coming to the end of my DMP after paying off debt for the last 7 years, I'll be debt free, apart from my mortgage. This is a long time but to be honest it's flew by! Stepchange helped me get back on track, guiding me, liaised with my creditors on my behalf to take the pressure away from me. Always responded to my queries either by telephone or email. Not once did I feel judged, they were so friendly, knowledgeable and just wanted to help. I have recommended them to a few people who are now either debt free or back in control of their debt. Light at the end of tunnel

Life changing

I had been in a situation where I was being treated very unfairly and as my mental health got worse, the more I was manipualted financially. I got out of this situation and needed someone to help me get out the hole that I'd been buried in and with the support of family, desperately wanted to get out of. With my anxiety, depression and ASD I might not be here if it wasn't for Stepchange. They gave me hope when I desperately needed it. They were my light at the end of the tunnel.
