Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

brilliant helpful service

i honestly cannot thank them enough - my debt was taking me to a really dark place and i called them when i didn’t know what else to do. they have been absolutely brilliant, so helpful. i’ve now cleared 3/4 of my debt and feel confident to continue with them! Reviewed on: 1st June 2026

I recently had a fall and can’t walk anymore and need medical supplies extra expenses I contacted Stepchange who promptly contacted my creditors and had my payments reduced taking a lot of stress off me I would highly recommend Stepchange Reviewed on: 1st June 2026

My debts got out of control.

My debts got out of control after having to use credit cards for everyday spending. My husband was made redundant a month after having a baby, not something we ever imagined would happen. I was paying the minimum but spending more. £35k later it got to a point where I could no longer afford the monthly payments and I started to panic. Called step change and they were able to advise me how to approach my debts, made contact with my lenders and a debt management plan was put in place. A monthly payment I can afford along with my normal outgoings. I can now sit down in the evening and not worry I’m going further into debt and provide for my family. Reviewed on: 1st June 2026
